La Mar — Restaurant in Bashkia Sarandë

We're visiting Albania from the UK. My friend celebrated her birthday in Saranda and we, a group of 6, decided to go to La Mar for her birthday dinner after checking that they have a great range of food choices (as we were looking for seafood options) and amazing view of the boulevard. We were greeted warmly by Mykos(I hope i spelled it right- also he's the person on the video wd the cake). He helped us with the menu and made great suggestions on what to have, and when he found out that it's my friend's birthday, he arranged a candle-blowing moment for her which made the night more magical and unforgettable. At the top of this, he also personally made sure we're having the best experience on our visit to Albania. He made a complete list of places we could stop over on our drive back to Tirana the next day and added his personal favourites. We followed the route he suggested and we are so grateful that he's done it for us because a day of a supposed ordinary drive to Tirana became an experience for the books- we loved it! From the outside, the restaurant looks very nice, so we thought it would be a good choice. Unfortunately, the reality was the complete opposite the face of the restaurant does not match the quality of the food. The wine we ordered was so bad that we couldn’t even drink it. We told the waiter that if a customer says the wine is not good, it should be taken away from the table, but they still charged us for it. (It was just 8 euros house wine) Of course, the waiter has nothing to do with this,it is clearly about the restaurant’s owner and their policies. The food was equally disappointing: 2 different spaghetti (seafood and shrimps) had no real sauce or flavor, completely bland. We were generally satisfied with the establishment: the food was delicious, the atmosphere was excellent, but the service left something to be desired. The waiter took our order, and everything appeared to be in order. We each ordered a glass of wine; however, the waiter also brought an additional small glass of wine, stating that it was for us to taste and compare.
