Oh, Lola! — Restaurant in Tirana Municipality

I honestly don’t understand the good reviews for this place: you’re simply paying for an Instagram photo; yes, the interior is gorgeous. And the service is decent (until it became obvious that we weren’t impressed with the place, at which point our waiter became visibly annoyed). Other than that, this place is ‘mediocre’ at very best. We ordered multiple dishes to share, and only one of them was good. The ‘sausage bruschetta’ was a plain pizza base with some cheap meat thrown on it - by no means was it even close to anything that could be called a bruschetta. The burger (the upgraded, more expensive ‘angus’ one) was okay, but for the price it should be much better. We have loved Tirana so far, and we have eaten in some amazing restaurants, all of which have been significantly cheaper, and better, than this place - save over 50% of your money, eat better food, and go elsewhere (unless you’re just looking for a cool Instagram photo). On top of the poor experience with the food, when it was time to pay, they bought over a card machine which magically kept declining - I showed our waiter that there was ample money on the card, and explained that I had been using it for the whole trip without any issue (we stopped for dessert on the way home and the card worked perfectly, as it has been the whole trip) - I understand that cash may be preferred, but just say this instead of pretending to accept a card… We feel like we wasted our money eating at this place, and it left us...

Possibly the worst food. The staff was nice and place is cute but the food is uniquely horrible.. we had a great time laughing at how horrible it was. We got the garlic bread, shrimp tacos, polpetta, and chicken wings so maybe other items are ok? Garlic bread was doughy and old. Can garlic go bad? Shrimp tacos smelled of defrosted shrimps from a market that doesn’t get a lot of customers, and even after smothering in lime you cannot bring it close to your face without smelling rot. Didn’t finish it. Chicken wings with soft skin and no taste- if thats your thing, maybe? Polpetta in cheap jar tomato sauce, sausage from a jar also maybe? If they’re fresh, im not sure what youre doing to it to get it that way but possibly reconsider? Again, super sweet and nice staff and the place has a very nice vibe - for the prices i would imagine you can afford better and fresher especially considering its Albania. I have been to Oh Lola more than 10 times, so this review truly comes from a place of care for both enthusiasts of the food and those who would like to have a good experience. The service is truly going Downhill and there’s no understanding of who the servers are and what they know about the food they serve. Several time I’ve finished my food while my husband is still waiting for his starter or main. What brought me to write this review though is an appalling experience I just had, where three beggar children entered in a busy day and started threatening us to spit on our food if we didn’t give them money. In the middle of the day with waiting staff just seeing this phenomenon and doing absolutely nothing. At some point these children also ran behind the counter where the bartender was polishing glasses and he didn’t act on it. I had to chase the children out myself while they cursed at me and spat. I am appalled, this is truly a horrible experience. We left without eating the food and have no intention of...
