The atmosphere and the interior design are formidable, and unequivocally seducing. Unfortunately that is as best as it gets for this uniquely designed restaurant, that falls tremendously into unexpected mediocrity.
The service, although polite, is utterly un-invested and apathetic in the client's needs and quite frankly incompetent. I had to personally get up and take my coat (and my partner's) to the designed place, even though that was witnessed by all the staff present, although I can't be quite certain since they seemed highly dedicated into their everyday discussions and jokes. The waiter got everything wrong. Even the order for the water which he himself suggested. The salad came 40 min late. The soup that took literally an 1 hour to make it into our table, surprisingly wasn't the one we ordered, so it took another 20 min for the right one to be prepared and served. It may also come as a shock to the management, but when you order a 1500 L Risotto, you would naturally assume that apart of coming warm, it should have, at least, half of the ingredients that were described on the Menu. That, again, was not the case in my situation, and at this point you don't even need my opinion on the sushi.
In this classic disappointing case of a "don't judge a book by its cover" story, amongst tales of polished aesthetics somehow combined with ridiculously overpriced food and bottom tier service, the true tragedy stands when you walk out of the restaurant hungry and frustrated, up to the very next day that you get to write...
Read moreLocals trap! The place is not worth it going a second time. If a restaurant business decides to go with the most expensive prices on the market (at least for seafood and asian cuisine) it needs to have the food quality on that level, and not just okay. There are far better places, with better view (the only thing you see outside is the restaurants neighbourhood cafe) and definitely better quality-price balance. When the place was full, the waiting staff could not handle well the amount of work. The only thing that is worthwhile is the decor, which would get 5/5. Update: Tried it from a takeout, and the salmon in the sushi...
Read moreVan Gogh is one of the most stylish and cozy places to pass a couple of hours. I am a frequent client and the staff treats you with the same respect and care either you are having just a coffee or eating a fancy dinner. The interior is fantastic, with amazoniac feeling and very nice details and lighting. The food is above average good. Maybe you will not have the best sushi-s in town but they are decent. The prices of the menu or above average as well which it doesn't make it the first choice for frequent dinning. However, the coffee is very good and they price it cheaply during the...
