I give this restaurant five stars based solely on the strength of one dish: the curry verde. I cannot describe with words how perfect this dish is, because it left us speechless. All we could do was repeatedly say “mmmm” and “wow!” with each bite. The flavors are perfectly balanced, no ingredient is out of place, and each component was impeccably cooked. Don’t leave Buenos Aires without trying this dish.
We visited this restaurant twice. On our first visit, we enjoyed the dumplings, the tacos, a ceviche-like dish made with fresh raw trucha, and chicken skewers grilled on the parilla. The trucha was the standout dish, although everything else was strong enough that we wanted to return a second time to try other menu items.
On our second visit, we were rendered speechless by the curry verde, pleased by the metambrito (although it was a bit oversalted for our tastes and the meat a little on the chewy side), and perplexed by the calamari. The calamari presentation was artful, but the stuffing was too salty for us to finish, the squid did not have a nice char despite being cooked on the parilla, and the sweet flavors of the sauce overwhelmed the rest of the dish. There was no harmony here.
Still. Five stars. Because of that dang curry! Excellent service and atmosphere, and I enjoyed the vermouth selection as well. If you sit at the bar, you can watch them prepare the food and...
Read moreApuNena is one of those remarkable and memorable places that will stay with you for long after your visit. This place is truly wonderful and they deserve the praise. Everything deserves 5 stars. From the atmosphere and music to the food and service.
We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation and there was room on the rooftop. At first glance you might look at the menu and think it's a bit pricey, but let me tell you...it's well worth it! I cannot stress enough how much I liked the food. I really recommend the 'Royal Manok', perfectly cooked chicken with an even better sauce, and the 'Langos Ginataan' which is delicious pasta with creamy and juicy langoustines. I understand why it was so packed with people.
The staff spoke English and was very happy to help us out. Her energy stood out to me and she seemed to love what she was doing. Wonderful people are working at this restaurant and you can tell by the food and ambiance.
Truly a wonderful experience and I will be back soon to taste these...
Read moreThere is a link on their website to make reservations which directs you to "Woki." There were only two options to reserve, at 20hs or 22hs (though they open at 19hs and that's the time we wanted to reserve). We received a WhatsApp message a few hours later accepting our reservation at 20hs and we immediately replied by WhatsApp to enquire if we could arrive earlier. After more than an hour with no response, we made our way to the restaurant to reluctantly accept 20hs to find there were only two other tables occupied so we believed we could have come earlier if someone had responded. The food is fabulous, and the wine list is simple with some very good bottles at reasonable prices. The food is quite pricey, but the ingredients and quality justifies it. We spent over 220,000 pesos for 5 of us. A nice touch is that the underside of the tables is cushioned with soundproofing. The server was very knowledgeable and...
