A truly authentic neighborhood cafe, opened in 1902 and probably unchanged for the past 60 years or so. The windows with hand painted descriptions of food offering (sandwiches, cafe and so on) start to bring you back to a bygone era and as soon as you walk in everything is exactly how you'd expect it: from old people reading newspapers or playing cards or just chatting away the day, to simple but wholesome food (great sandwiches and toasts, the super-classic Milanesa and fries) and drinks. The place is so authentic to a 1950s-1960s-1970s atmosphere (even the ocra yellow painted walls) that it is sometimes used as a film set. Even posters and ads on the walls are vintage, spanning from early 1900s cola commercials to 1978 Soccer World Cup memorabilia. Service is also "as it used to be": polite and efficient, but without any of those affectations that are so common place today. Read moreBuena y clásica opción, la mayoría de las veces fui por el desayuno clásico de café y facturas y ambas muy bien, las medialunas de manteca suelen ser grosas de verdad y muy ricas. Los sandwiches tanto de fiambre como de carne siempre ricos, con buen pan y poderosos.
Algo que perdió es la impronta de quienes estaban antes, uno de los dueños ( o el hijo mepa que era por la edad ) y el gato Octavio que andaba de recorrido por las mesas y lamentablemente partió de esta tierra hace unos años.
Ayer me atendió una peliroja que parecía que arrancó el partido 5 a 0 abajo, cero onda, pero posta cero. Nada tiene que ver con el estilo del bar, prefiero un jovato que me revolee la medialuna, pero que al menos demuestre que esta vivo.
