Went on a Friday night for the 10:30pm Tango class then stayed after for the band / dance floor. The “class” (more like an informal open workshop) was in a side room, out of the main club floor, and was surprisingly informative; was pretty basic and totally in Spanish, but my husband and I got the gist and after an hour and a half at least weren’t stepping on each other’s feet anymore. There was about a dozen people of all ages, both solos and couples. The class ended around 11:45pm and we grabbed a table in the main ‘club’ room (the large warehouse space), which was mostly gringos still that early on. The bar wasn’t anything special- only a few warm beers on offer. But the venue itself and the live band was great- good rotation of musicians, and a few tango performances thrown in (I’m sure to entertain us early-bird tourists). By the time we left around 1:30am the locals were just starting to trickle in, so I can’t give a true report on the Tango-watching experience. Overall, considering our entry was approx $6 AUD it was well worth the money for...
Read moreBeautiful place to hang out on the evening, have dinner and drinks with friends. BUT I was very confused by the Google comments as this place is NOT a proper milonga. The old man at the frontdoor is not being fairly honest in my opinion. The entrance fee is 5000 but food and beverage, tango show and live music are not included (need to tip the artists). Very few people there, even fewer will dance, at least before 01:30 A.M. since I left after waiting for 3 hours for more dancers to come. Most people are only tourists/spectators. Which means you think that you pay money to dance but you are actually entertaining the other people who come to get a glimpse of the tango culture. It's a pity because the venue is fabulous! Also, it was freezing cold in there (May, 2025) so this experience left me with mixed feelings. I felt like scammed but the art is nice. So go ahead with friends if you feel curious about the atmosphere, but do AVOID it if you are expecting to dance and meet other fellow tango dancers, especially during...
Read moreWe were a little shocked when we first walked in this place. The decor, the atmosphere, the smell of marijuana made this place a little scary. There seemed to be no one in charge around there for us to ask question. The money paid at the door 200 pesos/person allowed us to stay there the whole night but only could take 1 tango dance lesson. We arrived on time at 18:30 as advertised for the dance lesson. The teacher showed up late about 30-40 min.The lesson was for beginners only and very technical. Basically, it taught us how to walk and felt the partner’s movement. There was another tango hip hop class going on in the next room, like they were practicing a routine for some kind of showcase. We were confused and bored. So we left at around 20:30. We could stay longer to watch others learn the same lesson as we did, or eat, or drink, or wait until 21:30 to dance till...
