Authentic and Outstanding Experience at Parrilla Peña
I had the pleasure of dining at Parrilla Peña, where I ordered morcilla and lomo de bife. To my delight, the meal started with a complimentary empanada and mineral water, totaling 17,650 pesos without tip.
The quality of the food was nothing short of amazing. The empanada stood out with its rich meat filling, more filling than dough, just as it should be. The crust was perfectly crisp, enhancing the overall taste. The morcilla was flavorful and cooked to perfection, a real treat for the taste buds.
However, the highlight was undoubtedly the lomo de bife. It was grilled to perfection, juicy on the inside, and absolutely flawless. I appreciated that the dishes came without sides, as they would have only distracted from the main event.
The ambiance of Parrilla Peña added to the experience. It's a popular spot among locals, which is always a good sign. The restaurant isn't overly touristy, offering a more authentic experience compared to the typical tourist traps.
Price-wise, it was reasonable. Although I didn't order wine, I noticed a great selection available. The no-reservation policy is something I find appealing, adding to the casual, welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent, contributing to a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic local flavors and a warm,...
Read moreGreat value for a thick steak! The chef's recommendation is two large rib-eyes, which can serve 2-3 Asian people. There are many steak restaurants in Buenos Aires, and some people are addicted to the standardized procedures and stylish elements offered by Michelin restaurants such as Don Julio. The steaks of that kind of restaurant aren't bad, but they're expensive, hard to book a table, the service is also inconsistent. These restaurants attract tourists, young people who think they're opinionated. On the other hand there are options like Parrila Pena. Parrila Pena is an alternative that conquers the hearts of travelers and locals with its experience, heritage and local cuisine. This restaurant is like a Japanese izakaya, where the service is paid for with appetizers. The empanadas as an appetizer are a must, but the beef empanadas (which are safe for Muslims to eat) are delicious, especially with the red chili oil provided by the restaurant! The steak itself was juicy and solid, and with the salt, it was delicious. Don't miss it if you are visiting...
Read more“I enjoyed some fantastic and very affordable meals at Parrilla Peña during my visit to Buenos Aires. It was recommended by several of my local contacts as their go-to place for dinner.
I was advised to try a variety of cuts: Entraña steak, bife de chorizo, ojo de bife, and vacio.
While the Ribeye, known as ‘Ojo de bife,’ remains my favorite, I sampled all of these cuts at Parrilla Peña, and they were all grilled to perfection. I also had the opportunity to try the Chorizo and blood sausages, which added to the enjoyable experience.
To recap the cuts:
• ‘Entraña steak’ is a type of steak known as ‘skirt steak’ in English. It offers a flavorful taste. • ‘Bife de chorizo’ is the equivalent of a ‘Sirloin steak’ or ‘New York strip steak’ in English. It boasts tenderness and marbling. • ‘Ojo de bife’ corresponds to a ‘Ribeye steak’ in English. Its marbling contributes to its remarkable flavor and tenderness. • ‘Vacio’ is known as a ‘Flank steak’ in English. It’s a lean and flavorful cut often used for grilling or...
