Caro Pepe Restó — Restaurant in Mendoza

A disappointed experience! We came a bit late in the evening and asked if we could still eat. They said yes, but as soon as we sat down they started to close down the grill and all the other cooking islands. The waiter was very nice in trying to serve us as much as possible in the short time, but we ended up having in front of us everything from salads to grilled meat to dessert (based on ice cream that was melting). Almost nothing was left on the grill when we arrived, same for the pasta choice. The meat from the grill was nothing special (maybe because they were closing) and the same is true for the rest of the food, so all in all and especially considering the price I would absolutely not recommend this place!! Choose a nice restaurant instead, the city is plenty!

The food was alright but our evening was ruined by a terrible experience.

We were a group of 5 travellers and they clearly tried to take advantage of us. After asking if we spoke any spanish, they brought over a bottle of water each that we did not order. We said we didn't want them, and didn't open any of them because we knew we would have to pay. At the end of the meal, they insisted that we pay for them anyway, despite us all explaining that we didn't drink them and that we had never ordered them in the first place. All of the staff pretended not to understand us and the bodyguard would not let us leave until we paid he bill. We were completely disgusted by the people working here and would not advise any tourists visit because they will fully try to take...

Food is good honestly, if you go just be aware you might be scammed a few dollars, not a big deal but be aware, the service is LAME. I advice particularly against the old waiter and a young guy at the bar, they charged us 16000 pesos for two shots of Fernet leaving them out of the bill, genuinely I would have gone back for the rest of the week but they behaved like hungry rats over literally 6USD 😂 on top of that the old waiter also asked us for a cash tip and got angry after I kindly explained him that the amount charged for the shots was already more tip than drink. Luckily I paid all by card so most probably they’re not getting any of the extra money...
