This is a beautiful restaurant. The service once you get seated is exceptional. There were some things we had that were pretty good. However, this was the only restaurant in Argentina that I can recall where the steak wasn’t worth taking home as leftovers. This was also one of the most expensive steaks we have ever gotten in Argentina. The aged black garlic steak was a steak that had none of the typical hallmarks of an aged steak. The black garlic was limited to some cream on the side it showed no indication of having been aged in black garlic as I thought was described. I assume that was my fault so no deduction because of my misunderstanding. The steak was so tough we didn’t think we could make it worth eating with eggs the following morning. Upon the waiter inquiring why we didn’t want to take half of a very expensive steak home I demonstrated how tough it was and neither the waiter nor the supervisor seemed surprised. They confirmed it was the steak and not the preparation. There was also no offer of any discount but we didn’t ask for one either.
This was the worst Michelin restaurant I have ever been to. We visited 3 on this visit to Mendoza and this obviously isn’t the one we went to 3 times.
In closing I can’t not mention the threats that we got in regards to being on time for our reservation and what would happen should we be 10 minutes late. We had problems with the Uber not following the directions we provided causing extreme stress that we might be late. Only to arrive on time and stand around with multiple other patrons for over 10 minutes until someone was ready to speak with us. Ultimately getting seated about 20 minutes after we arrived in an almost empty restaurant. We were there at the opening. I deducted a star from the service for this part of the experience.
So as sad as it is to say this restaurant is over priced and not worth a meal. If you want to experience the atmosphere and small bites it could be a...
Read moreI really want to like Abrasado. The location was beautiful, the food was great, and the servers were nice people, especially Vanina. The carpaccio and tartare were phenomenal. For my entree I had the aged t-bone. It was only my second time trying aged meat. If you're not super familiar with it, I would recommend only a taste, and order a normal steak for your main course. While delicious, a full aged steak was too much.
There were a few other things that detracted from the experience: you are forced to download an app on your phone in order to access the menu...a menu that was a simple PDF and did not require the app at all My friend ordered a non-aged cut for his main course. The server came back promptly to tell us his preference was not available so he would be receiving the aged cut. Aged meat and non-aged meat are extremely different. To simply swap one for the other is not ok when paying $9.200 for a meal. He should have been proactively offered something else or a discount. We were helped by 4-5 different servers which made things confusing. And despite purchasing the most expensive fixed menu options, the somelier did not stop by the table once. The last opportunity for the team surrounds writing reviews. While extremely nice people, the servers absolutely hounded us for online reviews. They made it a requirement in order to visit the cellar and insisted on standing next to the table and watching us while my wife and her friend write reviews.
I hope that this feedback is considered as I would love for others to try Abrasado and receive a five...
Read moreAn otherwise stellar restaurant with a problem of mistreating the customer. I made a reservation over whatsapp, but when I arrived, guards would not permit my party to enter, due to a miscommunication. We were rudely barred from the restaurant and forced to wait outside the entrance in the cold. After some time, we were finally permitted to enter, but the mood had already soured. And for what? When we came in, the entire restaurant was nearly empty. Many other folks started lunch after we did. This type of elitist/stuffy behavior really sullied our otherwise perfect experience. If you really want to act pretentious, then force your customers to purchase reservations on a platform like Tock or enter their information on something a bit more official than a whatsapp conversation (which is their current way of reservation management).
The food and wine itself were excellent, service is a bit awkward and doesn't really quite know how to behave or welcome its patrons. We were so impressed with the wine we ended up going to the wine shop next door and purchasing a case...
