Botánica Iguazú — Restaurant in Puerto Iguazú

Our last night in Argentina, we are a family of 8. I ordered a bife de chorizo medium, got it as Well done. I asked the waitress to recooked it, second one didn't look like bife de chorizo and it was really bland, no searing of the fat or the steak at all. I told the waitress that I couldn't eat as it was so tasteless. Everybody else in my family enjoyed their dinner, I just had the side salad and we were fine. Time to pay the bill, we were charged for service and for the steak that I didn't eat and I don't think I should pay for it. A lady came to talk to me and said that I was to be blamed because she wasted two steaks and I should pay for one of them. We had a bit of a discussion as I have more than 20 years work experience as a restaurant manager but it seems like the way how this restaurant solve issues with customers is out of my knowledge. The visit started out as you'd expect at an establishment of this rating. We were placed at a table, got our menus and ordered some drinks. It took a little while to get our food and drinks, but it was fine. I ordered the surubi botanica pasta and the dough was completely raw. This is not a huge problem of course, but the staff was not attentive and i had to call out someone to get attention.

When I finally got the waiter's attention, he took my plate and said he would bring me a new one. At this point everything seemed fine, but this is where the problems started. I had to wait for close to an hour for my new plate. We had to wait 20 min for some beers and again the staff was not attentive at all.

Regarding the food itself: nothing special. This place has a lot of potential. But with 20 tables and 8 waiters, you would expect...

I hate leaving bad reviews but this was truly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Waiting, waiting, waiting - 2.5 hours in total for a mediocre meal. The waiter was very distracted with a large table next to me and even forgot that I had ordered any food. Took 30 minutes to get a drink and order. After 1 hour, still no food, he just brought me the check. When I said I was still waiting for the dinner, he claimed I had never ordered any food at all. I had to argue that I did, and he eventually apologized for forgetting, but then it took another hour to actually receive the Pacu Botánica.

The gazpacho was almost pure water and zero flavor, and the sauce on the fish was heavy and overly sweet. They didn’t even attempt to make it right. If it’s a busy night, avoid and go...
