THE HIDDEN TREASURE: Walking past Prospect Road, digging out what is there to try. Walk past this place called Afghan Cuisine & Charcoal Kebab House. The appearance of the Eatery is not appealing at all. It seems dull and not pleasant to dine. The only thing that caught my eyes was the Charcoal smell. Looked at the name, it says “Charcoal”. Look around at the other side, The other house was quite full but yet, I had tried the other place already. I was then took the chance to walk in and try. It is a Cafe style of counter ordering. The smell of the flaming charcoal odour got me to continue on. By reading the menu, the price range was very reasonable. Average price range is around $18/serve. It is a family restaurant with the traditional costumes by the host herself. Ordered 2 dishes, one Curry lamb with bread and a combo of 3 skewers and rice and a side drink for $19. Definitely value for money. It didn’t take long for the dishes to come. Amazing taste of sensation, bursting in my mouth. The well seasoning of the meat and the intensity of the spices in the marination, all I can say is, I am in heaven. The side of the mint yoghurt and the Spicy chilli tomato salsa dipping sauce is so complex, I literally could not stop eating. The Lamb Curry is definitely needed to be mentioned about. The use of spices in it is so good that I ate it with proud feeling. I was really amazed how the food was come together. The tender meat from the Curry, and the favour was extremely well done. For the average price dinner within $20, I believe it is definitely worth for anyone want to try it out. I would surely go and dine again. Rating of 4 local stars is not really my want. If the decor is better than now, I would rate for more. Possibly with a International stars for it plus a well renown as well. The decor is a bit dark and dull with a bad feeling of not very clean environment. However, it is cleaned. It is just the colour is not a good choice with a bad frontage set-up. It has a good potential future but need to work on the look first. Remember this, just look at our human face structure, coming down from our head, our eyes are next then our nose and then our mouth. It simply telling us that appearance is always come first by using our eyes. Then our nose to smell second and then our mouth to taste it. This is Mother Nature’s gift to us. Hope to see the...
Read moreVery nice place to spend time with your family. Delicious food 🍲. From the moment we walked in with our two kids, we were welcomed with a warm smile and made to feel right at home with that signature Afghan hospitality that restaurants like Afghan Charcoal Kebab House in Adelaide proudly embrace. The kebabs were absolutely spectacular perfectly charcoal‑grilled, juicy, flavourful, and packed with smoky aroma. They reminded us of the glowing reviews praising the lamb kebabs at this kind of eatery in Adelaide, often described as “simply delicious” and “best lamb kebabs I’ve had in Australia. The biryani exceeded all expectations aromatic rice, tender chicken pieces, balanced spices a dish that truly felt authentic and indulgent. The chicken curry was equally impressive: rich, hearty, and served with either fresh rice or Afghan naan, just as described on menus of similar Afghan charcoal‑kebab venues. Drinking fragrant green tea alongside these dishes elevated the meal it added a soothing, cultural touch that complemented the bold flavours beautifully. Many diners cite tea and juices as an “extra experience” alongside the main dishes. Service was truly outstanding—staff anticipated every need, checked in regularly, and were genuinely friendly. It’s that kind of care you see in family‑oriented Afghan restaurants who pride themselves on hospitality .
Finally, the space is pleasant and relaxed, perfect for families. It strikes that rare balance between being a casual, welcoming environment and delivering high‑quality, authentic cuisine. All in all, it was an unforgettable evening—delicious food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere. We’d give nothing but all‑star ratings...
Read moreI really like the casual atmosphere in this place. Naturally there will be those that can and will find fault at places like these but when you consider you can buy am utterly tasty wrap for dinner for as little as $7 what is there complaining about?! The food is delicious. I'll admit, to date, I've never had one of the curries so I won't remark on them. Though my friends have said they're very authentic. Pretty much everything else on the menu such as the half chicken is so delicately spiced then cooked over open coals. The taste is exceptional. And the wraps whether be lamb mince, lamb back strap or chicken are all spiced differently and still very subtle in their flavour. The meat is also cooked over open coals and so you enjoy the same smokiness as the half chicken. The staff are very kind and friendly and generous in spirit. Here you can get an imperial pint of green tea with just a hint of cardamom for a dollar! Yes, just a dollar. What else and where else can you buy anything for a dollar and it tastes good too? This place is a cheap and cheerful diner and with that I'm sure you'll become a...
