Update - 2025: Used to be good, but these days they typically only have a fraction of their range available until well after 9am on weekdays, so I can't even grab an apple scroll before work. Usually there's no labels or prices on anything either, so I don't know what's available, how much it costs, or whether it's vegan-friendly. Used to drop in multiple mornings a week but now I usually just walk past because it's too hard to ask "what's that? What's that? What's that one? And what's that one? How much is it?". Seems silly to have to load up the website on my phone just to find out what everything is.
(Original review from 2020) Friendly service, great selection, and surprisingly large range of vegan options. The vegan Vegemite scrolls, apple and walnut scrolls, and even traditional hot cross buns are all plant-based. Good for a fresh loaf of bread or a quick snack.
The Cape Seed Loaf is my current favourite, but I always enjoy the chia and fruit loaf when I crave something sweeter (it's perfect toasted with some Nuttelex or tofu cream cheese).
I recommend getting the loaves sliced "medium" thickness, they toast perfectly that way. Many breads are also available in a mini-loaf.
If you need to check ingredients or find out if something is vegan, either visit the website or ask the staff...
Read moreI bought a date scone yesterday and it was absolutely tasteless and horrible. It was like stale crust with dates stuck at the bottom of the scone, totally dry. I remember having these scones from other outlets where the scone was tasty and the dates were moist and distributed in pieces throughout the scone. What a shocker! Will not be buying scones from Bakers Delight...
