Although smiling all the while, the person who took my order seemed to have trouble understanding what a “mug” of coffee was. However once that was sorted I asked if my sandwich could be made with light rye bread which was advertised on the board above. The manager (I presume) butted in saying “we only have white or multigrain”. When I pointed out the sign states light rye and that’s what motivated me to come in to the cafe, she said they “hadn’t had it since Covid. We can’t have everything!” she said quite rudely, with a frown. I didn’t argue but failed to see why in 2023 they couldn’t either get hold of light rye bread or at least change their sign! Anyway I settled down to have my sandwich and coffee when it came. I took a bite of my sandwich and immediately bit on a chicken bone. Not very impressed, but didn’t say anything as the manager’s attitude had warned me off. What really bothered me though was that whilst eating, I observed the manager and both assistants rotating between taking orders, using the cash register/computer, making coffee, making sandwiches, cleaning tables, picking up rubbish off the floor etc; but never washing their hands nor putting on gloves to make the sandwiches! I have photos of the person who I assume was the manager (as she was telling other staff what to do), putting her hands in the food containers and picking up the cold meats, tomatoes, cheese etc with her bare fingers and putting on the bread. This is fresh food which isn’t cooked after handling, so it’s really just not good enough. Also it’s against food handling regulations.
Post script. In reply to Impressa Cafe. I posted this review once only. I did not post it twice. If it was posted a second time it was not by me. My original review was very accurate, exactly what took place on the day. I have no need to lie about it. I wrote the review as I was so shocked by the attitude of the staff member and the food handling practice. ...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE! THEIR SERVICE AND FOOD IS DISGUSTING. I have seriously never had a worse experience at a cafe in my life. I took my 2 year old there. I ordered her nuggets and chips and then decided I felt like poached eggs on toast with mushrooms and tomato. Somehow this totalled $27.50 (no drinks). I have no problem paying that but I expect something decent. What I got was foul.
My daughters chips were just cooked. Her nuggets were hard. My eggs were so over cooked I could have bounced them off a wall. The "toast" was warm bread that had soaked up water from the poaching liquid. They didn't even spread the butter (or homebrand table spread as it happens,) to the edge. It was a smear in the centre of the bread.
Making sure there was no one nearby, I politely asked for a refund as I was very unhappy with the meal. The owner gave me an earful about the food saying it was fine. She even picked up my daughters chips and broke them up in front of my face to make her point. However, she said she would give me a refund. Satisfied I went to the counter. She had disappeared to the kitchen.
She came out guns blazing and refused to give me a refund. She swore at me and (in front of all her other customer) told me to get out.
THIS CAFE IS TERRIBLE AND I RECOMMEND NO ONE GO THERE. There are plenty of other nice places nearby. Doesn't even deserve the 1 star I have...
Read moreI had a really bad experience with this place yesterday. I ordered a Chai latte and the barista did not brew the milk very well at all - it was really watery and simply an appalling example of a latte. I approached the server nicely and spoke to them about it in a very nice way and she seemed very accommodating stating that she will change it for me and let the Barista know. Next minute, a lady with an accent confronted me demanding to know what's the problem and while I was explaining it to her, she started acting offended and was so rude to me, smirking with sarcasm. I was carrying my 3 month old and did not want to escalate the situation therefore I just walked away. I'll never recommend this place and never come back again. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place and go to the cafe around the corner where the service is excellent and efficient and most of all they know how to...
