A visit to Bangkok Snap was more than just dining; it was an immersive experience that transported you directly to the vibrant streets of Thailand. Each dish we sampled offered a distinctive flavor profile, unmistakably Asian, making this a memorable culinary adventure.
First and foremost, a word of caution for those less accustomed to heat: when they say spicy, they mean it. This isn’t your standard Aussie level of spice—it's the real deal. If your palate doesn’t dance well with fire, I’d recommend opting for no spice or a mild level. However, for those of us who revel in the thrill of heat, Bangkok Snap does not disappoint.
We began our meal with the Papaya Salad, which arrived in generous portions. The flavors were impeccably balanced, with the sauces complementing the freshness of the papaya, creating a refreshing yet complex taste experience.
Next up was the Pak Boong Gai Grob, featuring morning glory that was cooked to perfection. The sauce was mild, allowing the natural flavors of the greens to shine through—simple, yet utterly delightful.
One dish that fell short of expectations was the Pineapple Fried Rice. Despite being touted as a must-try, it failed to impress. The flavors were somewhat muted, and the dish didn’t live up to the vibrant, punchy tastes we had come to expect from the rest of the meal. I’d suggest giving this one a pass.
The Grilled King Prawn with Lime Leaves and Peppercorn was a standout. The combination of lime leaves and whole peppercorns added layers of flavor that elevated the dish to new heights. The prawns were grilled to perfection, with a succulent, smoky taste that was simply irresistible.
To finish, the Maharaja Toast was nothing short of extraordinary. Who knew a simple butter toast could be transformed into such a decadent dessert? Topped with pandan-flavored custard, ice cream, and whipped cream, this dish was the cherry on top of an already remarkable meal.
In summary, Bangkok Snap offers a culinary journey worth taking. While not every dish hit the mark, the overall experience, from the authentic flavors to the generous portions, makes it a restaurant I would recommend for anyone seeking a taste of Thailand. Just be sure to brace yourself...
Read moreWe dined as a group of four adults and one baby (they provided a high chair, which was great!). We arrived around 7 PM, and the place was buzzing—both indoor and outdoor seating were nearly full. Thankfully, the outdoor area had heaters, which helped with the chilly evening.
Starters: A Strong Start The real winner for me was the Gui Chai Tod ($12.90)—crispy pan-fried garlic chive dumplings paired with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. It had the perfect crunch on the outside and a soft, savory center. Absolute favorite!
The Chicken Satay brought back memories of street food in Southeast Asia—flavorful, smoky, and comforting.
Main Dishes: A Feast to Remember We shared the Thai Braised Beef with Noodles (a staff pick)—and it's easy to see why. The beef literally melted in our mouths, and the broth was rich and deeply satisfying.
We also had the Papaya Salad with Beef. The beef was cooked perfectly, though it did toughen up a bit because the aircon was blowing directly at our table and cooled the food quickly—something to consider if you’re ordering a spread.
The Massaman Beef Curry was a standout. If it’s your first time, don’t miss this dish. I was already full from the starters, but one bite of this curry reopened my appetite. Creamy, fragrant, and comforting—it’s a curry done right. We paired it with rice on the side, which made it even more satisfying.
Even my husband, who never eats crab, was blown away by the Soft Shell Crab—crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. It’s definitely a must-try.
Dessert: The Sweetest Ending We wrapped up the night with Bingsu Bangkok Snap (mango & passionfruit)—STOP IT. I could eat that whole bowl myself. Refreshing, tangy, and sweet—it was the perfect dessert after a heavy meal.
We also tried their Roti in Bananatoffee and Oreo flavors—definitely a unique twist, and such a fun way to end the meal. Who knew roti could be this versatile?
Final Thoughts: This place delivers bold Thai flavors with generous portions and a cozy, lively atmosphere. Service was quick, even with the full house, and everything we tried was memorable. A solid go-to spot whether you're craving comfort food, something unique, or just want a great dinner with...
Read moreWe went on a Sunday night dinner and were lucky that we booked earlier that day for a dinner spot and staff seated us quickly. There was a bit of a line for walk ins.
Food was initially brilliant, seasoned well and came out promptly despite the busy night.
At 8pm we ordered dessert as the kitchen had requested last orders. Despite this, there was another option on the QR code ordering system which mentioned 'after dinner' which would give the kitchen staff 15mins to prepare dessert. This was pressed to alert the staff that we were ready.
We waited over 1hr and ended up paying the bill and cancelling the dessert that never came. The irony was that we asked two separate wait staff about the status of our dessert and was told it was being 'prepared' and sat there with a cleared table and our water.
Staff members began cleaning up tables and wiping dishes and cutlery. I disappointingly went up to pay having waited far too long for our dish to come. The staff member accepting payments checked with the kitchen staff behind him and our chit was still sitting there and was sitting there below my name up on their order monitor.
The staff member may have been a bit shocked hence no apology from him or the kitchen but I understand that this was not his fault. Overall a soured experience from what could've been a really good dinner.
Would probably head to the other Bangkok restaurant in TTP before I return here, but would consider Snap giving it another shot - just not...
