A couple of weeks back, we had the pleasure of visiting this unique part of Bonython park. Well, it's not actually part of the park, but very near to it. The SAPOL Road safety park.
So on this saturday where it's fine and shine, we brought the kids to have a workout there. It's actually a very last minute arrangement, on friday I made the decision to go, invited a friend to bring along her kid, and went straight out to buy a bike for my elder daughter. I figured it's a good chance to teach her how to ride too. She's 4, she'll enjoy that ! And what about the 2 year old? Ah, no fear, we'll chuck the Little Tikes Coupe into the car too.
And so, we arrived.
The park is not hard to find if you know where to look. It's near the pond to the right when you are driving into the carpark.
I've heard that they will switch on the traffic signals during weekends, but not sure if I'm just bad luck or they've since stopped doing it, the traffic lights are not switched on when we were there. But no worries, the tracks and all are still usable. It's not a big place, fairly small and contained if I'm honest, but it's enough for the kids to ride and play safely.
I managed to teach the clever little girl how to cycle, and now she's willing to hop on and ride. :) Hopefully in a few months or years time, we can take out the trainer wheels. haha.
And myself? I had a tedious day, pushing the coupe around the park while my wife and the friend chit chat away. It's worth it though. Even the 2 year old had enjoyed it.
A couple of hours went past rather quickly. The ladies wanted to switch their chatting place, so we swap out and went down to the Bonython park itself.
Bugger. Worse. Now gotta follow the little gals around the swings and the slides. And the many man made hills. More tedious than the previous 2 hours!!!! @@!
Whoever said to come to the park???????...
Read moreDAYLIGHT ROBBERY Read other reviews. Many are offended by their ridiculous prices. Rude owner and $6 for a small coffee. $7 for a large one. 15% surcharge on top if you dare to order on a holiday. Wake up! This is an insult.
Went their on Mother’s Day, after being treated to lunch out elsewhere. After being charged $17 for two small coffees and a piece of banana bread, I decided to query the total. Young guy was delightful and appeared new on the job. He was helpful and cheerful. When the owner heard the question, she virtually pushed him aside and asked “What’s the problem”. There wasn’t one. I asked about the price and she said, “Yes, that’s right! Coffee is $6.” I presumed she meant for two. She then snatched one of the coffees away from me (after I had just paid, mind you). And said, “That’s the price.” I said, “Excuse me, I ordered two coffees.” I couldn’t believe how rude she was. I was not protesting. I simply thought they had overcharged in error. I had to just let this go. I was nearly in tears and I didn’t want her to ruin a great day out. I said, thank you and sat down without telling my husband as I know where he would have shoved her coffee! Thanks for ruining a delightful day. And who charges $6 for a small coffee in a paper cup.
A medium coffee is $7. She has to be kidding! Never again. Other staff were very busy and helpful. The owner must have been having a tough day with the kids...
Read moreI went to the cafe with my partner (no kids) so perhaps I'm not the target market. There was loud music blaring from one side of the cafe as we arrived which would have annoyed me I had kids in the playground and I had to listen to that. We found the menu design quite garish with it's bright colours and it put us off the food (we chose the place for the design of the older menu). We were unimpressed with the menu and decided on toasties, but the bread was way too big and the filling was too much. There were a lot of unhealthy kids cakes available (as you can see from the other pics in the reviews, including a cake with a mini Mars Bar attached). There was also a display with sickly treats made of plastic and covered in plastic. Would love to see healthy kid options and replace the plastic treats for more sustainable packaging so we are teach children the right things. Positives - the cafe is in a beautiful environment and this place has a great opportunity to make this a healthy, environmentally conscious, green cafe that appeals to more than...
