Excelsior Hotel — Restaurant in Adelaide

It is a nice quiet place to enjoy a meal....So I thought upon arrival. The brunette lady with lots of make up that doesn't smile that took our order was rude, almost throwing the menu at us. She proceeded to take our order without even bothering to look at us & mumbling a few words. The salmon & the grilled fish arrived & the one alteration that we had asked for had been overlooked. If it was busy then I'd almost understand but apart from my friend & I there was a table of 6 & a table of 10 (the table of 10 had not even ordered at this point). I tried to call the waiter back to ask that it be fixed & you could see that he blatently ignored me & scurried behind the bar. As we were on a tight time schedule I didnt bother to chase it up. The only positive was that the salmon and the fish were quite nice. Pity this was a good place to come to a while ago...talk about...

Such a great pub in the heart of Hawker St. I remember it when it was the 'Phantom' themed pub many moons ago. I still get cravings for the veggie lasagna they sold back then. Geez that was good. Anyway, back to the current day Excelsior! It's great. Fantastic meals at a great size and price, lots to choose from an extensive menu, and truly lovely staff. Everyone was so friendly, asking how our meals were and even laughing at my Dad's jokes. They even seemed genuinely amused too! I had a delicious chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my hubby got the atlantic salmon special, and my Dad the roast of the day. Everyone was very happy! Honestly, for me, it's not the place that makes it successful. It's definitely the quality of people.

Bar staff are very friendly, very welcoming and they are great value overall they are of great quality people.with top grade service. People who are the friendliest, vibrant, personally just a great environment to hang out.
