Third World Food & Service Standard
I have been coming here for many years and have always made a specific point of bringing any family and/or friends who come from interstate and/or overseas to enjoy an evening out in a fun environment with good food in a clean establishment.
I have been here in early 2017, with a long standing friend from Sydney where we had a wonderful evening, great meal and excellent service. It was so good that it left a huge, positive impression on my friend that on a recent trip to Adelaide in February 2018, he couldn’t wait to showcase this place a classic find in Adelaide by taking his wife, daughter and son-in-law to experience the same as he did a year prior and enjoy a meal out to celebrate my birthday early since they wouldn’t be here closer to the actual date.
We all converged on the Open air restaurant of the Bombay Bicycle Club on Sunday 11th February 2018 with the humble expectations of experiencing a great night together.
Much to our disappointment and shock, the service was sloppy and extremely ‘slap dash’ as proved when my friend’s son-on-law ordered a Kahlua & Milk and the bar people served up a cocktail liquor, Cointreau & Milk, with a price difference of $3.00 in favour of The Bombay Bicycle Club and to which was not offered back as a refund upon exchange of the drinks.
When the son-in-law ordered a garlic bread she had to specifically ask for the refund of the difference and oversee this come off the price of the dish. The garlic bread was pitta bread with a thin smearing of garlic to garnish which didn’t cut the grade at all.
The food ordered by my friends were King George Whiting which looked like it came out of the freezer, microwaved for a minute to thaw out, rolled in crumbs and rapidly deep fried with absolutely no flavour at all, Chicken Schnitzel was tough and pulled meat dish was stringy and tough. This was extremely disappointed in the quality of the food served up.
This looks like if this is the standard of The Bombay Bicycle Club, it’s gone downhill compared to what they used to be like. Certainly won’t be embarrassing myself in the future by exposing people I know to this...
Read moreWe went for a birthday gathering. The menu was really good with a huge variety to choose from.
The great thing, going with a group is you get to try everything.
Large dishes so you won't leave hungry, so that is a bonus!
We had beef schnitzels (I know it's pretty much the go to when your unsure) but the schnitties here were well known to be plate hangers and the crumb to be amazing. . And they didn't disappoint! (The gravy was very standard, below average, both the pepper and mushroom) but wasn't the deal breaker.
We had the cauliflower on the entrees list and they were beautiful with plenty of sweet stuff to roll the cauli in.
We were able to try the seafood chowder and that was absolutely 💯 👌
Friends had the goat curry (and other assorted wings etc) the goat curry was tasty but the bones were annoying. . That comes with goat I believe. The wings were very nice.
The butter chicken my daughter got was lovely not spicy and her favourite go too. (She is not a spice lover) highly recommended for those that don't want Chilli hot. . This dish is perfect 👌
Another couple tried the taster plate arrangement. They absolutly loved most dishes on there, they didn't try the vindaloo. . They don't like over spicy hot food. . We ate the vindaloo and it was very very nice. Fruity flavour then the spice hits you. 😋
A couple of other unusual dishes were ordered (salad and sides) and were remarkably and pleasantly surprising. So tasty and nice.
We left full and content and everyone there at our table would highly recommend the...

Now tell you about the food quality.. I had the chicken pasta cabornara..the sauce was good but the chicken was very blan..noticed another table got refunded meals... Would not recommend this place..until it gets a...
