Meccanica — Restaurant in Adelaide

Had a great feed here. The pizza was delicious, so delicious in fact that we shared 3 pizzas between two people. The staff were friendly and looked after us very well. Why then no 5 star rating? It was our comfort levels with the bar seating. We were seated at the bar, and there was no space to tuck your legs under, in fact my knees kept hitting the bar and I had to position myself further out than was comfortable for a long period of time. This side though, we had a great experience.

The fitout of the space is well in line with the mechanic theme of the whole little precinct (as explained in the opening pages of the menu). It has a super casual/family feel to it which suits their market well, and was busy the whole time we were there. I wasn't so sure how I felt about the music playing - it was either the Fast and the Furious soundtrack, or Gone in 60 Seconds soundtrack.

Everything in this place is great!

To start with, deco is amazing, love the walls and the car in there. All the food was delicious: from the entrees to the pizzas and you get soooo much value for money .

Finally, and I cannot stress this enough, the outstanding service: we got there at 9:20, kitchen was about to close and the lovely waitress that served us had so much energy and amazing attitude to explain the menu even if it was in a rush. She was constantly checking on us and if everything was ok and making suggestions even if it was last the kitchen's closing time or if it was late for her.

We didn't feel pressured at all and were able to enjoy the lovely food. At the end, she and other staff members took the time to talk to us and laugh a bit, even if it was more than 10:30 pm.

I've been here recently with a couple of friends, who promised me a neapolitan style pizza. I'm a bit fussy with pizza, being from Naples! But my friends were correct! We had some sweet potato fries and a wood fired Feta Cheese, with crostini and caramelised garlic, 😋 Then I had my so loved Margherita pizza, with real mozzarella!! I looked around, and customers were chatting, eating, laughing... I closed my eyes, and it felt like home ❣️ To close a lovely meal, obviously, I had to try the HOMEMADE ice cream! I had Bacio and Tiramisu' and some Pistacchio cream on top, so nicely recommended and served by the owner's young daughter, Maia (she likes to help her papà 😊) with such amazing skills and lovely manners for her young age.
