First things first—don’t question why it’s called Flava. Just accept it. Like a distant uncle’s nickname, it’s best not to dig too deep. What matters is that it sits on the Christies Beach foreshore and it serves a decent coffee… which I know, because I finished mine before breakfast even made it to the table. Ordering a second coffee? That idea briefly floated through my head before I imagined watching the sun set while still waiting for it. So I bravely soldiered on, caffeine-less, like a true breakfast warrior. Now, the breakfast—was it big? Absolutely. This thing had mushrooms, tomatoes, a hash brown, a cheesy kransky (aka a sausage with attitude), eggs, bacon, and two slices of toast. It was less “big breakfast” and more “preparing for a hike across the Nullarbor.” And look, it took me so long to finish it that, in hindsight, that second coffee might’ve had time to grow, ripen, be roasted, and brewed fresh. Missed opportunity. But credit where credit’s due—the view of the ocean was stunning. Nothing like chewing a kransky while watching waves crash romantically in the distance. A poetic blend of cholesterol and coastal vibes. Would I go back? Yes. Would I order the second coffee next time? Also yes. Growth is about learning from past mistakes.

A casual cafe on the esplanade at beautiful Christies Beach SA. Enjoy the sea breeze with a well-made beverage on the verandah for breakfast, brunch, and lunch during the week or dinner on the weekend. If you prefer indoors with air-conditioning, it is an option. Service was average and definitely required more attentive staff for seating and table maintenance. Wine and spirits are available, along with a diverse menu catering for most dietary requirements. Parking is on the street with some spaces at the rear of the building. Access is difficult indoors for wheelchairs and the disabled as it is hard to manoeuvre between tables. There are steps to the verandah area, and umbrellas are definitely a requirement for pavement tables. With a little more attention to detail, this cafe could be truly a great cafe 😀

Great Service, Fast and friendly. Got a banana smoothie with Almond Milk and a small cap - great coffee and fresh smoothie. Reasonably priced and the view is fantastic - nice place to sit outside, have a coffee after a run and relax. EDIT: Have since been back twice and unfortunately the consistency with the coffees from the first time dropped a little and they stopped with the yummy little meringue treats so I had to drop a star as I am all about my coffee it has to be good time after time to get a 5 star. Still a reasonable coffee.

Went in for a coffee and breakfast.

I arrived wanting coffee and breakfast by myself. Was seated at a table for 4 people.

The menu options were okay, but not gluten intolerance friendly (GF bread being the only thing identified as gluten free).

I opted for a mug of latte, corn fritters with poached eggs, smashed avocado, fetta and tomato relish served on a thick slice of rye sour bread.

The coffee was nice, not amazing but not terrible.

And other than the meal being under seasoned, the corn fritters being more of a corn pancake and the tomato relish being some finely diced tomato and Spanish onion, it was tasty.

None of that is why I won't be going back.

The service was prompt but rude. No-one smiled. No-one was friendly. I'd go far enough to say the staff (particularly the older lady) was surly.

While I sat eating breakfast, I pulled out my laptop to write a couple of emails. Within a few minutes of finishing my meal, but only half way through my coffee, the old lady put a 'reserved' sign on my table that indicated someone had a booking to sit there in 15 minutes. No, 'excuse me' or any polite request. Just plonked the sign in front of me. I finished my coffee, finished my email and got up. Got in line to buy a bottle of water, and noticed the old lady take the reserved sign off the table.

Seriously?!

I was in the cafe no more than 20 minutes. Ordered my meal, ate it and was essentially rushed out the door. They chose to sit me at a table for 4 people when there were smaller tables available, and they were completely unwelcoming and rude.

In these times when business is struggling, I am more than happy to help out small business whenever I can, but I’m not prepared to...

Attended a few months back with my elderly 84yr old Mother. Aftet waiting over 25mins for 1 cup cappuccino and 1 cup hot chocolate in medium, politely asked man behind counter if wait would be much longer, my elderly mother needed bathroom. Indian man behind counter approached and screamed 'I am the owner and it takes as long as it takes and if you people don't like it, p&#$ off' '. I was truly shocked at this reaction. I politely explained to' owner' that I and my elderly mother would not be spoken to in this way and would be leaving immediately after a full refund. Indian owner continued to heckle/scoff at us as refund was processed, we left quickly. I do believe that Indian 'owner' must be mentally unwell to act in such a heated and aggressive manner. Myself and my mother walked to coffee shop a few doors up, will not mention cafe name, but we explained our experience while ordering and staff there said our complaint was a common one, owner of this 'Cafe' has reputation in area as being a 'trouble maker'. Indian owner is rude, arrogant and has no manners or respect, very unprofessional and food/drinks served are of poor quality with lengthy wait time. I do not recommend and will never return to...
