This is a cute, tucked away Mawson Lakes secret.
Food:
Authentic Italian handmade pastas and other dishes. Some of the landmark dishes are on the menu, highlighting the best of contemporary and classic Italian cuisine. And they know how to make it. Garlic bread reminds me of something my Nonna would bring to the table, and wine selection is great - their "house" wine is Serafino Shiraz.
Service:
Friendly, but disjointed at the time. Suffering from same issues as many restaurants and cafes here, no proper dining room organisation and it seems everyone is running everywhere and serving everyone. So no one ends up being served properly. To add to service pains, on the night we were there, they just introduced new software package, including tablets, and it was obvious poor staff did not receive proper training on this new system as they did not know how to use it, which was creating issues in communication between floor staff and kitchen team.
Ambient:
Pleasant, tables are not overcrowded, simple but nice table settings and excellent chili as condiment. It would be great if service team offered freshly grated Parmesan cheese instead of pre-grated shakers, and as always, offering freshly ground pepper is completely omitted.
We will certainly be back and I can recommend...
Read moreI definitely recommend this beautiful restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious. We had such a lovely family lunch at La Vita Fresh Pasta at Mawson Lakes. The service was above and beyond and they catered for all of our individual preferences and food allergies, especially for our grandmothers, they really provided excellent service. Mary waited on our table and she was so friendly, helpful and professional. We had a variety of meals, pizza, pasta, eggplant parmigiana, chicken schnitzel, lasagne everything was perfectly cooked. The eggplant was especially silky. And the gluten free gnocci was so light and fluffy, I could not tell it was gluten free at all! There were so many options if you wanted gluten free or vegetarian. They also have a great variety of wines and other drinks. It is a really family friendly establishment, delicious quality food and the customer service to match. They also accept AMEX cards which not all places do. And they sell their fresh pasta, lasagne, desserts and gelati in take away trays, etc if you would like to heat it up yourself or cook it yourself at home. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have a very nice relaxed atmosphere. Best restaurant...
Read morePoor value, poor pizza in a noisy environment.
Lots of hard flat surfaces make this a very noisy place to eat. We were there on a Wednesday evening and even though it was not full it was hard to hear yourself think. Easy conversation was extremely difficult.
The eggplant parmigiana was nice and a very good size. However, the pizza was very poor - a very average base with no structure or chew smothered with far too much bland oily cheese. The topping of bocconcini slices and prosciutto was ok but could not counteract the cheese sea beneath. I managed to eat a bit over half the pizza but wished i had stopped far sooner.
It was not a one off pizza fail either. My son loves pizza and he ordered a Hawaiian pizza as well and his was cheesed to the max as well. He would normally be expected to demolish the whole thing himself but barely managed to eat two slices after pulling off half of the topping. A sure sign of a poor pizza.
Even though the pair of pizzas were not cheap ($27 and$23 respectively) we did not even contemplate about taking the more than a whole pizza of leftovers home with us.
We...
