Came here today with a friend for the first time and can not believe I was charged $21 for two pieces of toast with cinnamon butter and a hot chocolate - and to find out at the counter I was charged 10% surcharge for it being a Saturday - this is not clearly indicated on the menu. Besides that the toast was on the menu as a loaf so I was expecting a banana bread type consistency and it was burnt all around the edges. The hot chocolate was also in a very small cup. We had a seat inside which was very loud. I saw cakes, cinnamon scrolls etc to sell to the public on a bench uncovered and with flies around. Will never return. Only thing nice about this place was the location.
In response to your response, yes its my first review because I've never felt the need to complain on other places Ive visited, which is reflective of your business. The things I mentioned were things I noticed during my visit, given the surcharge I decided to mention them so I'm not sure what you are implying. Your food being on an open bench with no cover and flies present I felt was strange and unhygienic. That was just my observation. I also dispute a surcharge for a Saturday is common as I have never experienced this before, a public holiday yes, and this is absolutely not clear on your menu - tiny print on the back page is not what I classify as "clear". And having it at the counter when its table service is irrelevant as I ordered at the table so would not see that sign. Your response is a clear indication that you don't care about your customers and clearly can't acknowledge any downfalls that may need rectifying. Like I said, I won't be back, plenty of great cafes around with much better food...

Corn ribs, romesco, smoked insalata ricotta, charred almond, crispy parsley: absolutely delicious! Perfectly grilled. The romesco sauce was excellent, and I loved the charred almond 🤤🤤. . Grilled broccolini, garlic butter, roasted hazelnut: wow wow wow these are some of the best grilled broccolini I've ever had! I think the roasted hazelnuts sealed the deal for me 😍😍. . Ortiz anchovy, dehydrated lemon, charred turkish: I like anchovies, but I feel like serving a tin of anchovies is a bit meh. Good toasted bread though. Would've been nicer if this was slightly more creative 🤷. . Breakfast gnocchi, chorizo, heirloom tomato, chilli, kale, poached egg, basil lemon pagrattato: oh these gnocchi were divine! Super soft and pillowy 🤤🤤. Just a little bit spicy to make it interesting! . Spicy fried chicken, gochujang aioli, pickled cucumber, crispy shallot: not quite the typical Korean fried chicken, but they did their spin on it! The batter is light and crispy, and the chicken was super tender. Just a bit of heat ☺️. . Chargrilled squid, native finger lime, coriander, fermented chilli: super tender! A little bit on the bland side, but still really nicely done. Maybe because we had it after the fried chicken, which had a much bolder...
Read moreIt's always a good test to arrive just before the kitchen closes in a cafe. Staff chatting and cleaning up, stood at counter ignored, literally had to make an ahhem noise. I told staff member it was my first time and so I didn't know the rules. Was handed menu's and told it was table service. Interesting definition of table service. Chatting and continuing to clean up while ignoring me. Took me ages to get eye contact. As I had said it was my first time, some info on some dishes or a simple Q of "would you like me to talk you through some of our popular dishes" you know.. service would have been nice. The dish I had was fine, there were heaps more adventurous and interesting dishes, but I'd need some explanations to go there and i couldnt be bothered to be the one having to drive all this. After watching a few locals walk in and get instant service and banter, I am assuming that regulars/ locals get the service and outsiders/ first timers are left to our own devices. Disappointing, I had been thinking of trying this place for a while, happened to be in the area and got that same, poor service we are seeing so regularly now. Hospo owners need reminding that regulars can be made every day from first timers. Also, in a market of poor service the few that make the effort will stand out and...
