I had some relatives from interstate over and we were looking for somewhere to eat. It was Monday before Xmas and most places were closed. We were so lucky that Phuong Yen was open and could accept six people without a booking especially if you saw how busy they were! The menu was extensive with both Vietnamese and Chinese dishes and it was written in English, Vietnamese and Chinese languages. If you were to read every item on the menu you would be there til closing! I'm sorry but I can't comment on the wine list. The table service was surprisingly quick. The staff were lovely and happy. The food quality was good but not five star. The price was certainly fair. For six people and drinks was under $100. We all left there satisfied and...

Chinese Family Restaurant: upon entry, very traditional Chinese dining settings, fish tank, and of course the lucky cat by the cashier. Food: Offers a great selection on the menu. Traditional entrées you would find at a Chinese restaurant such as spring rolls, chicken & sweet corn soup etc. A great selection of meat & vegetarian dishes to share. Also seperate/single person dishes available. Drinks & Dessert have all the traditional selection you’d find at a Chinese restaurant. Isn’t too busy the occasions we’ve dined here, weekends and weekdays, our food is always quick to make it to our table so is great when dining with young children. Staff are very helpful and inviting. Toilets are clean, spacious, baby...

Me caveman walk into Phuong Yen, Croydon Park, hungry like mammoth in drought. Tribe greet me with bowls of treasure. Fried rice sparkle with pink pork gems, prawns swimming through golden egg river. Honey chicken fall from sky like sweet meteor shower, crunch like thunder, sticky like cave wall painting.

Me and tapeworm spirit inside belly start tribal dance. Tapeworm scream “MORE! MORE!” but belly already full, caveman nearly cry from joy. Rice grains sing harmony, sesame seeds pop like fire sparks in night sky.

Forty bucks well spent — me trade shiny rocks every day for feast like this. Staff strong, tribe honourable. This not food. This is initiation. Me now blood brother of Phuong Yen...

the seafood soup is just ok, my sister said that it was bland but i personally think it was salty and sweet enough. seafood fried rice is bland and kinda oily, but it’s ok, at least they still give me pieces of shrimps. the roasted duck with fried mantou is good, especially the mantou. the mantou is soft and has a light hint of sweetness. the roasted duck skin is not that crispy :( however, the sweet and sour fish skin is crispy, not much meats but still pretty good. seafood hotpot is ok, kinda sweet to my taste. nice ambiance for a family dinner, service may be slow on weekends bc there’re a lot of families dining out
