I had some relatives from interstate over and we were looking for somewhere to eat. It was Monday before Xmas and most places were closed. We were so lucky that Phuong Yen was open and could accept six people without a booking especially if you saw how busy they were! The menu was extensive with both Vietnamese and Chinese dishes and it was written in English, Vietnamese and Chinese languages. If you were to read every item on the menu you would be there til closing! I'm sorry but I can't comment on the wine list. The table service was surprisingly quick. The staff were lovely and happy. Traditional entrées you would find at a Chinese restaurant such as spring rolls, chicken & sweet corn soup etc. A great selection of meat & vegetarian dishes to share. Me caveman walk into Phuong Yen, Croydon Park, hungry like mammoth in drought. Tribe greet me with bowls of treasure. Fried rice sparkle with pink pork gems, prawns swimming through golden egg river. Honey chicken fall from sky like sweet meteor shower, crunch like thunder, sticky like cave wall painting.

Me and tapeworm spirit inside belly start tribal dance. Tapeworm scream “MORE! MORE!” but belly already full, caveman nearly cry from joy. Rice grains sing harmony, sesame seeds pop like fire sparks in night sky.
