I love knowing that there is an authentic Hong Kong style restaurant available outside Adelaide CBD. The name of this Cafe originated from Kowloon's most recognisable landmark "Lion Rock Mountain". The spirits of living under the Lion Rock Mountain ‘’獅子山精神‘’ is every Hongkonger's unforgettable memory, no matter whether we are living in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or any other part of the World.
The food quality was just average and I would say they could be better. The milk tea is an important factor to evaluate if this is a good Hong Kong cafe but sorry it's a big failure. Hot food like baked pork chop rice was good. Satay beef instant noodle set with fried egg and butter bread was very soso.
The staff were quite nice though. Some of them could speak my language Cantonese whilst some others could speak Mandarin. Overall satisfaction was average, so I would rate it at 3.5 stars if I can. Anyway, I would not mind rounding it up to 4 Stars to encourage Hong Kong style restaurants in Adelaide. Sadly, there are just a few of them that I would honestly consider them to be authentic (in terms of style of food offered but not really in terms of quality of food that they...
Read moreSorry for the negative review I posted yesterday which was meant for another eatery. I have since removed my previous review. My sincere apologies. Mount Lion Cafe is surprisingly refreshing. It was our first visit after recommendation from a friend. The Cafe is clean and relaxing. The service was fantastic. We tried some of the old time favourites like Red bean ice drink and deep fried buttered toast. We relived our old Hong Kong memories. The owner Raymond was a fantastic host. He chatted with us for a long time just like old friends. Raymond please accept my apologies for mixing up your cafe with...
Read moreAnother place to enjoy authentic Hong Kong style food. We chose pork chop with rice. Pork chop was almost perfectly deep fried but onion sauce was weak. Serving of rice was generous. Another dish was chicken fillet with Nissin instant noodle in soup, a very HK taste. Very good but we wish the serve of noodle could be more generous. Another psychological preparation is, the shop is usually busy (with many talking in Cantonese) and noisy. Our wait for food were around 15 minutes. Very wide range of choices but will be great if we...
