I go to sushi train around three times a week. They now know my name. Despite being a chain, it is reliable for its affordable sushi and lively atmosphere. Not only does my mouth water at the thought of its sushi, I feel comforted upon every visit. As you walk into the Welland restaurant, you get welcomed by the friendly, homely culture. A cacophony of ‘Samisens’ awaits. Parking is never a concern and as you enter you are quickly greeted and seated straight away as you walk in and if its busy, they give you a waiting ticket and they are extremely quick to get you seated once a booth/ seat straight away. Some say the food is pricy by the time the plates add up and your get your bill, but in the takeaway sushi market, it is on the lower half in terms of cost. But if your extremely hungry you won’t be spending over $20. The plates of Nigiri, aburi, regular sushi rolls, ships, hot dishes and desserts range between $3 and $5. It’s almost as though the spicy crunchy chicken roll has some sort of substance in it, it’s addictive. The food is ALWAYS fresh even if its been on the “train” for a while and the staff always change over the plates on the train if they have been on there for too long. Not only does this Japanese cuisine successfully provides a joyful and vibrant environment but it also allows for a creative interaction with the food, itself. Each plate is colour coded which aligns with the varying prices of the sushi which were mentioned earlier. Due to Covid 19, there are no seats on the side of the train anymore (there are still booths on the other side). On these booths they added in plastic, foggy screens in between each booth. This is a pleasant new feature because not only does it decrease the risk of Covid 19, it adds a bit of privacy and provides more of an intimate experience. Another feature at Sushi Train is the digital tablets in which you order your food on. These tablets are another excellent feature as they give the customer an interactive, independent experience, almost as if they become the person in charge. Why would you not immerse yourself in this wonderful experience? Within the menu at Welland Sushi train, they do not sell/provide alcohol for the customers, whereas, at some other sushi trains such at the new, modern Plympton sushi train. I think, for Welland Sushi Train this could be seen as a disadvantage as people would go to other establishments that serve alcohol. The Japanese cuisine also provides accessibility of Uber Eats and Door Dash. I think this is a fabulous addition to Sushi Train as it makes it more profitable. The menu is very diverse as it has a variety of different items, some of which I don’t actually like, but that’s just what I think. The menu has so many items that I am sure will suit everyone’s tastebuds because even if they don’t like savory food at all, there is a wide range of desserts that can indulge in, who doesn’t love a chocolate lava cake! Having said all that, I’m a regular and I get the same four plates every single time so even If you’re picky like me, there is a high chance you’re going to love Sushi Train. Sushi Train Welland offers takeaway and dine in which is outstanding as both the takeaway and dine in options are an extremely quick process which is crazy because the food is also being made fresh. The takeaway process is especially quick so its easy to go in n’ out and get to the places you need to get to. Another great addition is that at this fantastic cuisine, you can order online and pick up your food almost straight away. There is also an app that does the same thing. Eating at sushi train is a divine experience for all, from the handy gadgets, the comfy seats, the ultimate privacy screens and don’t even get my started on the fresh, mouth-watering food. The atmosphere is also, always uplifting and it’s a guaranteed good time at sushi...
Read moreA great 10/10 experience for the whole family. My kids have never eaten sushi and my partner didnt want a bite of it. After getting the kids on board and coaxing my partner though my sister we ended up at Welland for a night out at Sushi train. While waiting to be seated, my kids where getting second thoughts and I just wanted Sushi :D. We looked at the menu and said yep, lets see what comes on the train first. My son got first dibs, it wasnt what he wanted, but we told him to try it. My sister was very persuasive to try all the differnt plates available and OMG they where yummy, they where so yummy that my son kept up with me on a plate by plate basis and Im pretty sure he ate more than me! I called him out like a kid in a candy store! 🍬 . My partner kept the plates coming trying anything and everything, for someone who was anti sushi.....boy did she get converted! My daughter ate some of everything but kept wanting more deep fried chicken and calamari rings. To me these where better than what you get at a pub, wich says alot! Super juicy and soft arghhh they where yummy! Anything that wasnt on the train got ordered on the tablet on the table. And it got to us within minutes. Fresh, hot and packed full of flavour! They also have Ketty bot wich my son and daughter loved. It would play songs as it waited on us for a drink, it was a pleasant surprise to see such technology embedded in the atmosphere! THE STAFF WHERE SO KIND AND GENUINE! I just wanted to hug our host! I dont think i can fit all the compliments we had, but best to try for yourself.
If you dont like sushi, then this is the place to be! EAT 🍣 AND HAVE FUN! Thankyou sushi train, we love you mwah!
I thonk we had 25 plates...
Read moreHaven't eaten yet, but I will be soon. I am currently waiting for a booth.
Anyway, this isn't a review about the food, it is about the customers that eat here.
First, I don't understand why people come to a place like this to order 4 plates between 2 people, and choose to take up a booth all to themselves. There are families here that are waiting to eat and individuals, like myself, that are here to have a filling lunch and spend approximately $70-$100. If you are here to eat 3 plates, take yourself to the takeaway section, grab your 3 plates, and leave. The booths are for big groups of people, or people that will be utilising the whole area. Even if you do receive a booth, and order very little. Don't just sit there talking to each other wasting everyone's time. This place gets extremely busy and I do not understand why it takes 30 minutes to eat 1 plate of karaage chicken.
Also, respect this restaurant. I don't understand why, as a grown adult, you are sitting with your bare feet on the chair, or table. Keep your shoes on and remember that this is a place that is shared by many, not just yourself.
Anyway, great place and keep up...
