Welland plaza fish and chip shop — Restaurant in Adelaide

First time here today because of the previous ratings. Upon arrival I felt something wasn’t right. We almost left because it took so long to serve us and we were the only ones in the store. We ordered three burgers, we had a chicken and cheese burger, golden rings and the flame burger. We also ordered a side of onion rings and washed everything down with an Oreo milkshake, salted caramel milkshake and a can of coke.

The two chicken burgers were slightly over cooked. All the burgers tasted good. The Oreo milkshake was good however the salted caramel was way to weak and we left over half of it unfinished. The down side of the burgers was they took 18, 21 and 28 minutes to come out. The milkshakes took 34 and 38 minutes to come out.

The service was terrible! They were obviously understaffed and also had no clue how to prioritise their orders. They even said they lost our milkshake order.

We witnessed two other groups leave became they weren’t served fast enough and gave up waiting.

We recommend the owner have a good look at how his staff are trained to keep customers updated and happy.

An interesting thing is we told the service guy we would do a review prior to placing our order.

The staff were apologetic for the wait and made no effort to make any offer.i.e. Discount on next burger order or free fries next time.

The best way to describe the place is average burgers and shakes with clueless staff.

There are heaps of better places to get a burger within the area, try them first to avoid disappointment.

We were going to give you two stars however that would be overstating it.

I went in with a friend who tried the burgers with the previous owners so we were super excited to come in and eat again. However, after this experience we refuse to return.

We ordered 3 shakes, 3 burgers and respective sides of onion rings and chips. The items were quite expensive for the poor quality we received. There was only a family of 3 in the restaurant when we arrived, and 2 uber orders I noticed while sitting down. We waited an hour to receive our food. There is no reason why this should’ve been the case when the restaurant was close to empty. Customer service was also poor.

While waiting for our burgers, there were a lot of poor hygiene practices - staff were touching their face, not using gloves/washing hands (between serving customers and food prep) and coughing towards the deep fryers. Food was left sitting out of the fryer after being cooked for 10 minutes, resulting in it not being fresh or hot. All of the food we received was cold or spoiled. The shakes had a weird aftertaste, the chips weren’t even lukewarm (even after being put through the fryer twice) and one of our orders was incorrect. After spending about $100 between us, we ended up not enjoying and throwing out half of the food. We couldn’t even finish or enjoy it.

I would highly recommend management to reassess their processes, and provide adequate training to remedy these issues. As for other customers, KFC and Nordburger are around the corner and have much better value for money, quality and service. Extremely...

Kudos to these guys for cooking fresh to order and having good menu options. We used to come every couple of months and at the start the food was bang on, upgraded aussie style burgers cooked well and tasted great, chips crisp and well seasoned and shakes delicious. Fast forward a few years and it's become sadly the exact opposite - soggy, mushy, oily, nasty. It's been like this the last 4 times we tried. Not sure what's changed as they still cook to order but it's just not good in any way. Hoping the owners can get this fixed as it's normally 100% at it's peak. 2 stars for the memories

Reply to owner - thanks for getting onto this so quickly, you guys have always been lovely. We don't use delivery apps so have ordered in store and ate it there (when we weren't in lockdown) or just down the road at work so it wouldn't have time to get soggy. Last few times the burger buns were so soaked that it turned into mush and we asked the lady if extra oil was added or something.
