Thai Room, a well reviewed Gem of South East Asia flavours in Adelaide. Is it really that good?

We found ourselves with an exquisite dining experience, seamlessly blending an ambient of elegance with the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine.

The culinary journey begins with their Feed Me menu on an array of seven dishes, each crafted with precision and bursting with bold flavours. While exploring the menu, we found ourselves drawn to the spicier side of Thai cuisine, and we were not disappointed.

The four entrees provided a nice introduction to the meal. From the Miang Kham (a mini taco like using betel leaves, with scallops, coconut and chilli) fresh and sour profile (that for my taste was the weakest dish of the night) to the surprise of fried eggplant with chilli jam, the juiciness of the grilled king prawns and the aromatic and freshness of the Salmon Ceviche. Each bite was a revelation of taste.

Moving on to the mains, the three dishes, each distinct in its own right, highlighted the versatility of Thai ingredients. Whether it was the super tender 12 hours Massaman Beef Curry, the refreshing and tropical profile of the Seafood Banana Blossom Salad or the nostalgic taste of their Pad Thai, every dish was a testament of authenticity and excellence.

Finally, no culinary journey would be complete without a sweet ending, and the dessert at Thai Room was a Asian twist to a Panacotta with a honey syrup and berries, might be too sweat for some but the lime that they offered us cut the extra sweat and balanced it on point.

Now if you want to know if there are bad points?, well is hard to fault but I would say that if you are new to Thai cuisine, it would be good idea to let them know in case few of the dishes pack a punch on spicy level; additionally the indoor dinning area might be small for groups of more than six people.

Anyways, Thai Room in Adelaide offers more than just a dining experience; it's a celebration of Thai cuisine at its finest. From great customer service to the ample options in drinks, fair prices on Adelaide’s dinning standards and without a doubt quality of their dishes. It is definitely on my personal saved list, for those occasions when I want to pamper loved ones or even...

Came back from Thailand just about a month ago. Couldn’t get enough of Thai food. Our friend just happened to recommend Thai Room to us telling us it’s the must-go-to Thai restaurant in ADL, so we went the other night.

It’s got very nice vibe, and staff were so kind and friendly. To be honest, the food was more than I expected, since we just had enjoyed the authentic a month ago.

Ordered several Thai signature dishes. And I really enjoyed the small modifications to the traditional recipe. Like the Miang Kham entree, instead of just putting the toasted coconut strips, the additional fresh strips added another layer of texture to the dish, also making it not too dry when chewing the whole wrap in your mouth. And the nutty taste from the toasted coconut was well balanced. Another little tip or my personal preference is to chop a little dice of lime and wrap it together with other ingredients, amazing combination.

The seafood salad dish was quite impressive, too. I’ve never known this plant called banana flower before. Its nutty & milky taste matched the dressing so well, and the prawn and squid was cooked just right. Like of any Thai salad, the chilli was so crucial, it really stirred up our appetite. So we just kept eating it.

If I could offer a small suggestion, the Massaman Beef was just a bit too savory for our taste. It did come with a steam rice, and it was perfect. But by the time we were having the dish, we only realized how much food we had already had. So we were too full to enjoy the curry with the rice. Otherwise the rice would balance out the curry well.

Have to give my mate a thumbs up. We had a good night there. Will definitely visit again, just not to order so...

Quite disappointed with service. They pretty slow. Menu gave to us very late and she gave dinner menu only 2 menu (we have 5 guests) and we have to share amount ourselves. After the first serve of table water, if we like to top up we have to grab from the station by ourselves as no one around and we wouldn’t bother for a long wait just to top up our water. When I was ordering I mentioned the entree serve together with mains but entree still came first.

Every time when we need something we need to stand up and come to the bar to get their attention while another table near us have been looked after pretty well.

In term of food: overall portion are very small especially grill whole squid $25 for that small size of squid? (See photo). Also no consistent of food quality. We ordered two Pad see ew one came out very saucy and spicy while another is dryer and less spicy. I know that I did ask to cook Thai style but only for my dish! Which is Pad Thai. Those 2 Pad see ew are for my other 2 guests and they did not really enjoy those at all! Moreover, my Pad Thai dish got 2 uncooked prawns in it and I don’t feel like Thai style.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone to spend that much amount of money for this kind of inconsistent service and small amount of food. But the atmosphere of this restaurant was...

I discovered this place based on a friend walking passed this place and mentioning it. Food is excellent. I did the "Feed Me" for $79 per person. You can decide the dishes for yourself or they can surprise you or a mix between. I did a mix selecting some dishes I really wanted to try and letting the chef choose the rest. It was my first time here and the food was excellent. I loved the Pad Thai with fried chicken, which was a fresh modern take on the dish whilst still holding true to its traditional flavours. This was the stand out dish of the seven that I tried. All dishes were a delight. Service was top notch with the staff making the experience by being very attentive. The atmosphere of the restaurant is modern, classy, warm and cosy all at the same time. Absolutely would come again and I look forward to trying more dishes on the menu when I go back. An amazing evening of good food with a friend. What a gem of a find. Highly recommended to give it a try.
