Stopped by Public CBD for brunch on a Saturday. Not entirely sure if Saturday attracts a crowd (Clipsal was on the same weekend), it was quiet and nice to relax without the usual weekday morning rush.
I frequent Public for their coffee and pastries. I enjoyed brunch, food was great and highly recommend trying dishes with an interesting twist. Staff were polite, fun and attentive. Water was topped up and our waitress kept us on point to order food as we got caught up chatting.
To the negatives, two of the four items we wanted to try didn't have the ingredients to make up the dish. The kitchen didn't have Salmon skin to to make the chips in their Sea-Scram. The pumpkin scones was absent from Eggs Benedict.
Also, the croissant didn't have the usual generous filling of custard (featured below). Custard was piped on both ends with little filling towards the center. Not sure what happened this particular Saturday.
Aside from that, coffee is consistently good and both mushroom and salmon dishes were...
Read moreA decent cafe in Adelaide's business/legal district that has very generous portions, but is pretty stock-standard from there
Came here on a whim during a cold day to have some warm comfort food and coffee. The menu has classic options at reasonable prices that are served with great presentation. The standout thing by far is the proportion of ingredients; a generous amount of protein/sides/carbs in every instance and very delicious/filling
For me, the coffee was good but not necessarily great. In and amongst the growing coffee culture, this place blends with other places Not a bad thing, just worth mentioning
I think on a business morning, this place is great - close to.work with filling food and good coffee. If im in the area I'd definitely eat here, but don't know if I'd go out of my...
Read moreOrdered a coffee which was ok. They had a lot of sweets and pastries on display. They also had what looked like Portuguese tarts on the counter. Disappointed as I asked what they were made of and no one could tell me. I’m very lactose intolerant and had no problems eating these all thru Portugal recently but I have heard of these having cream/butter in Australia so i always like to check. All the staff could tell me was that they are custard tarts and no matter how many times I said I needed to know if there was any dairy products, no one could tell me what was in them. As someone who also has a lot of allergies, like many many Australians, it’s essential for any cafe/restaurant to be aware of allergies and intolerances in general. Very disappointing to see that...
