Read moreStopped in at The Hive Cafe for lunch after a bike ride from Nuriootpa. Being a Saturday, we were advised that the kitchen closed at 12 pm but that we could have something from the bainmarie. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and asked if we could also have just a plain croissant, a small cappuccino, and an apple juice. Our food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. However, I had to send out a search party for the ham and cheese and both croissants were stale and dry. Read moreGenuinely one of the very best cafes in the Barossa. Needless to say, the Barossa has notoriously high standards for their businesses and the Hive ticks all the boxes.
The staff here are extremely friendly and welcoming - by far the highlight of the place. Well managed and always met with a smile by the baristas. Staff make or break a business.
They have the best coffee and cakes in Angaston and I hear their meals are delicious too. The location is great with a good view of the main street and makes for a perfect hub to meet friends or take a break from your road trip.
The Hive is often busy and for good reason - though a little too busy for myself and its difficult at times to not feel in the way when waiting for takeaway. Though, this point is negligible and likely wont bother most other people.
If you're in the Barossa, don't skip Angaston - if you're in Angaston, dont skip...
