Christmas Lunch 2022 was not the nicest chriisy lunch. I would give it 3 1/2 stars this year. I d rung in advance and was told there was a vegan and veggo menu as i have friends who do not eat meat. It sounded good on the phone but the 1 choice and the entree offered did not impress my vegie friends. Sadly us omnivores were not too happy either with the entree selection was dry and tasteless and the 1 small prawn on a stick looked lacking so the meal started on a downer. The main , we all had different choices was good. Bob had salmon, my hubby the Kangaroo which he said was cooked to perfection and I had pork belly which was tasty the seperate served veg not so great came out cold. The deserts were nice but no wow factor like the previous chrissy. The main meal for the veg friends was like a barley risotto but flavorless and did not smell good at all not worth the $100. Per meal price for them. The service was not as good either ,, not happy staff this year they were put out when we asked about the veggie menu and never seemed interested after that which was sad after our other Wanera experiences being so nice. Finally I know its a wine bar but the wine selection needs to cater for all budgets a cheap and cheerful bottle of each variety means everyone may enjoy a wine. So last christmas 2021 was great and i gave 5 stars an amazing christmas lunch. Tasty food including a lovely entree and dessert shared selection. Main courses yummy and good selection of aldentee vegies. Polite and cheerful waiting staff and just a lovely laid back lunch. No long waits between courses either which is amazing as just lately resturants seem to take forever to get each course to table. We plan to make this venue our go too date night treat. Thank you Wanera a lovely lunch. And the Cocktails were fab too. 🎄🍾⭐️

Visited the Wanera for lunch with a group. The interior of this premises immediately impresses as did the rear courtyard area. A glorious sunny day, the group quickly spread out and began relaxing with pre lunch drinks. First time visitors most of us, so we were keen to experience what the Wanera had to offer. The two girls working the bar did a great job keeping up with demand. Sadly they were the only front of house staff and I think it was a bit much to expect them to handle a large group plus walk ins. Our first course was delicious and a credit to the chefs in the kitchen. There was a break until main course so we took the opportunity to explore nearby shops. Upon our return, I was sad to see plates not cleared from the tables. Again, insufficient staff. Main course was enjoyable as was desert. Overall we liked the Wanera, however I would suggest that as per widely accepted practice, the coach driver guide should receive complimentary coffee at least. The driver/guide brought 40 people to the establishment after all. Apart from these lapses in our experience I would recommend visiting the Wanera wine bar restaurant in Angaston.

I hate leaving negative reviews, I've worked as a server and in the kitchen and I know how hectic new years eve can be. But this place overstretched tonight and it shows. We arrived and 7 weren't given our first course till 8. It was at 10.20 we recieved eye fillet medallion, and consistency was the issue. I had a well cooked peice of meat, where my boyfriend got something thin, over cooked and tough. See photos, he ate it cause he was starving. We were there 4 hours. I understand the concept of a set menu where the servings are small. But the quality was not up to par. Cant fault the waitresses they tried their hardest. Though would have really appreciated a sorry for the wait at some point. I get it. New years is new years. But seriously my family and I had a bad experience. It was not up to standards.

Wife and I called in for lunch today. Of the three staff members who attended us only the young lady who welcomed us showed any interest or enthusiasm. She took us to a table outside, our preference (20 deg today) and said someone would take our order soon. A disinterested someone did. I asked for a second plate as wife and I often share because meals are often too large and we prefer not to waste. I also asked that the potatoes be chips not mash. Seemed to be no problem. Meal took 40 minutes to arrive. Wife’s king prawns had shrunk, were overcooked and cool. My steak sat on a bed of chips with three green leaves between. Second plate absent and second request seemed to be an intrusion. Asked if we would like water, wife said yes and a bottle and two glasses duly arrived. Lass who attended us first passed by and chatted, asked if we were being attended to and was generally nice and friendly. The other two ladies were simply disinterested. Meal cost over $80.00, including two drinks. Water, which is usually complimentary cost $9.00. Overall, a less than satisfactory experience. The place was not busy by the way. We won’t be back and certainly will not recommend the resteraunt. Maybe we went on...

Not terribly happy with this place. We came on a Friday night before 8pm after a terrific but tiring day of bike riding. The ambience was nice with live music (price of meals range $28-42 ) but it wasn't a particularly busy day. There were maybe 5 tables of customers. Hungry and parched from the bike ride, my friend and I order an entree to share, as well as a starter of bread and olives. An hour passes by and ... Nothing. We wait, and the waiter serves everyone except us. After awhile it felt as if the waiter was ignoring us- and then I flag her down to ask her if our food was coming. Our entree came after an hour (9:15 ) but our starter (bread and olives actually was delivered after the entree because the waiter had delivered it to the wrong table and the kitchen thought they had already made that dish! We were given the starter for free, but overall attitude toward us was cold. Our main waiter was nice and apologized for the mistake but a second waiter who delivered our starter made us feel like we were the problem. Food is alright, but do not recommend and will not be coming back for the poor service. If I am paying a premium for the food, better service is to...
