Wow. Finally a place to look forward to go out for dinner in Anglesea!! Of all the versions I've seen The Last One Inn try on, this one is by far the best! Our table agreed, when we were a few bites into the small plates. Highly recommend. Best food in Anglesea since the days of Captain Moonlight at the SLSC. We'll be back!
3 of us shared: Padron peppers (great game, we each got at least 1 flamer), H/L tomatoes, ceviche (it sings), Flathead (omg the saffron fume), rump cap, beans & Romesco (yes chef), potatoes & the divine basque with perfectly dark caramel. Couldn't fault the food in any way. Portions sizes were perfect. No problems with our dietary restrictions the menu had loads of options, thank you.
Service was lovely from our lassie from Dundee! She seamlessly picked up the pieces (literally) others lacked. Casual dining is fun, but we just felt other waitstaff were less than casual. If food is served shared, please bring service cutlery for it, became tiring to ask for it with every dish. Perhaps in the next briefing mention service cutlery, particularly dishes that have a lot of sauce need a spoon. Once again, our waitress was great!
Thank you team for a great experience, last birthday dinner out...
Read moreHubby and I visited this restaurant with another couple on a Saturday night. We were seated indoors which I was happy with. The outdoor area was full and there was a DJ. The drinks menu was extensive but the font was so small that I had to take a photo and enlarge it. I stuck with water but it was disappointing that there were only two local wines on the menu. We ordered our food and waited and waited...they, like most restaurants are short staffed and they had a temporary chef. They did keep apologising for the wait and we did get a complimentary corn turnover, which was a nice touch. Three of our meals arrived and they were very nice (roast chicken and the steak). But it soon became clear they had completely forgotten the fourth. When it eventually came, accompanied by lots of apologies, it was very small and not worth the 30 dollar price tag (roast pumpkin). The side of chips was the last dish to arrive, which to be fair, were delicious. Good restaurant with a nice atmosphere and polite, professional staff. If the staffing situation could be fixed along with more local wines and a price adjustment for the pumpkin dish, it would...

Celebrated our mum’s/mother in law’s/grandmother’s 70th last night. Food was simple, delicious, on point, abundant, cooked to perfection by a team that obviously care about what they are doing. Thank you kitchen team!!! Keep doing what you’re doing. FOH are next level. The coeliacs amongst us ate sensational plates with confidence, thanks to the care, attention and communication from our waitstaff. Bar staff know how to manage a crowd, and while we weren’t the rowdy ones, you’ve got to appreciate a team that can make everyone feel safe, noticed and still free to enjoy themselves. No fun police, just brilliant service, respect and intuition. The gentleman we assume to be the owner was on the tools, charismatic and apparently smoking briskets in the front yard this morning. Again, you have to appreciate this level of care. To qualify my options. 27 years a chef. Live in the Yarra valley, and would travel the 3 hours any day to have the same experience. So much love for this space, food and service....
