EXTREMELY OVERPRICED ! I’m surprised to find this restaurant has such a good ratings after our visit last night.. the service was average, and some of the dishes were below average. We were heading to the pub for lunch when we walked passed what looked like a nice spot to book for dinner. It was 2.30pm when we popped into Beachside cafe to book for dinner later that evening, we asked for a 7.30pm booking and the gentleman told us that 7pm would suit them better. We explained that we were yet to have a late lunch next door and that we may not be hungry by then, he repeated that 7pm would suit them better. 7pm it was. He asked us if we were having a seafood platter for dinner that night because it would be helpful for him to know prior, we weren’t sure what we would be feeling like as we were still yet to have lunch, we explained this and apologised that we could not give him our order just yet. We arrived at 7pm, we were seated. Looked over the menu, waited patiently for someone to return to take our order after tending to tables orders of people who had arrived after us. Proceeded to order our meals, only being told that a number of items in the menu were not available (the menu isn’t very large as it was). The oysters kilpatrick we had were lovely, the mains were not. The seafood linguini that two of us ordered was charcoal burnt, it was as if they had the meal cooking and left it, only to return and find it completely burnt, instead of salvaging what they could they clearly just mixed the coal through the whole dish. Very unenjoyable. A friend ordered the salmon, that was a very disjointed meal, coming out with a side of salad and also sliced baked sweet potato and some pan fried asparagus. The bill came to $200+ for the four of us and was by far the most unenjoyable of the three week long trip we have had up the coast. To top it off my sister felt as though she had a very mild case of food poisoning following the meal, possibly just an oyster that was just on the wrong side of the track. Save yourself some cash and a disappointing meal and go next...
Read moreI love the Bermi Beachside Cafe and since I wasn't in town for a Tuesday I couldn't attend my stepdad and friend's Big Man's Breakfast - they all attend for Tuesday breakfast without the wives, they order what they want, all grab newspapers, and basically run the town like wanna be godfather's haha - it's a lot of fun!! ☕️🍳🥓 So Mum decided to organise a breakfast there with her and Mike (step-dad) on the 2nd Jan, I didn't take many pics, the view just looks over the beach and across to Dromaderry Mountain. It's the best cafe view of all time haha I do a post from here every time in town - they have taken some hard hits with the bloody fires and Covid - so it is good to see them happy and busier. Mike loved his breaky - I am pretty sure he doesn't need to order any more. They just know his order and 2x Half Strength Lattes in a Mug served separately haha. And mum licked her plate clean. Read moreI hate writing bad reviews but this needs to be said.
First time I went here we were greeted by an old man (who we think is the owner), he had a terrible attitude and we ended up walking away and going to another cafe. From reading the reviews it seems he has a problem with kids. The day after I went to the cafe with another person as our usual cafe was closed. It felt like we were stepping on egg shells, trying not to annoy this old guy. The woman I spoke to when ordering my food was, quite literally, huffing and puffing when I asked for no maple syrup on my pancakes, she read it back to me and what she had written down was very different to what I had said, so I corrected her. Food came out, my friends order was correct, mine, not at all. I went back, told her she had got it wrong, thankfully she reluctantly agreed without much fuss. Food was very average after all that kerfuffle.
I was trying to think of something nice about this place to finish off my review, but other than the view, I genuinely can’t think of anything.
Please, if you’re going for food in bermagui,...
