Overall this had been the worst experience that we ever had with a winery. We came here for wine tasting experience, and the staff that waited us was very rude to us throughout the whole experience.
We requested for water once we had placed our order, the first request for ignored. We requested again politely, which she replied us rudely with a "please?". So we had to say please before water was provided to our table. By then it was very obvious to us that the first request was intentionally ignored.
That was very uncalled for. While we may not have said "please", I do not think we had been rude or impolite to the staff. It totally spoiled the mood for us at the very start, and definitely affected the rest of our experience.
But even after that we tried to enjoy ourselves as much as we can, because to be honest the wine were good. We stayed polite even after the previos incident, the staff however continued to treat us horribly. She would return within minutes with our next tasting wine, and when she saw that we have not finished what we had (cause we only just got it minutes ago), she would not leave and would just stood infront of us and stared at us. We felt so uncomfortable that we just finished what we had quickly. We did not have time to actually taste the wine. We had to bottoms up almost all of our wine. It was a real waste of good wine.
Her explanation / introduction to the wine was also very poor. While it started well, we received a very detailed history of the winery, we could sense that she quickly lost interest in explaining to us after about the first wine. Towards the end, her explanation would just be as idiotic as "this wine paired well with food". It was absolutely horrible.
I was not sure if it was because of our race (we were all asians), but the table next to us did not receive similar treatment as far as we can see (they were a table of caucasian). But we definitely felt slightly prejudiced.
Again, I do not think we have been rude, or hostile, or have done anything that would called for such behaviour or treatment from the staff. After all that, we still remain polite, finished our experience and left without doing anything.
Will definitely not come back here again. It spoiled our mood for the rest of our day in...
Read moreFirst impression of PepperGreen is its beautiful outside and in with being warm inside from the wood burning fire and warm outside with the blankets and screens provided We requested an outdoor seat as we were brining puppies which they accommodated for however upon arriving I noticed we were seated at a table for two but there were 5 of us including the pups. I asked for a table to be added on which they did but I don’t know why this wasn’t done in the beginning as no one was seating outside and there was empty tables all around us Mostly all the young servers were friendly, attentive and warm towards our puppies except for an elderly thin server with glasses who was rude and rushed as I ordered a red wine with my main which never arrived For entrée we had the Duck liver parfait, celeriac remoulade and raspberry vinaigrette with lavaosh which read really well but upon eating was bland and unexciting, the serve was generous but no flavour. My sister ordered the Twice cooked gruyere and leek soufflé but also said it was bland lacking strong features and characteristics. For main she got the special Seafood bisque was generous in serve for entrée size but way too salty and therefore could not eat all as she had to wash it down with lots of water. We ordered the Pan fried 300g sirloin steak, horseradish butter, polenta chips with a red wine jus and greens the steak was over cooked, dry and no flavour with the horseradish butter also having no flavour and the red wine jus was non existent on the plate the only item we enjoyed were the steamed greens as they had flavour but overall not worth $44.00. I would not even pay $5.00 for this Prior to us eating we were going to get dessert but opted against it as overall all the food we ordered was tasteless, too salty and bland I enjoy the sparkling white wine and hubby enjoyed the non alcoholic beer and my sisters lemon lime bitters was made well so they do drinks really well but that’s it for us. We would not return...
Read moreThis place was outstanding. The building had been built beautifully with amazing dark but warm decor with a countryside feel. The ambience was inviting in a cold winter day with the lighting dim and the fire place going.
Upon arrival my wife and I were instantly greeted warmly and with personality and seated promptly. Our waitress was able to rattle off 6-8 specials all of which sounded amazing. We ordered drinks and were brought bread and oil which was great.
I ordered the prawn toast with lots of fancy bits. Essentially it was an Asian fusion style with lots of bursting flavour and Asian style crab salad. It was so outstanding I would have another if I could.
For mains I had the eye fillet which came with jus, potato and roasted tomato's. It was cooked to perfection (rare) and had great flavours all round. It was chargrilled which added some complexity of flavour. I paired this with a great Shiraz.
Upon finishing our meal we had a look around and saw more beautiful dining space and out the back wine tasting in almost a bar style setting. Again beautifully set up.
As we paid were were recommend a few items they sell in their small shop and we purchased olive oil based soap, some hand moisturiser and a bottle of olive oil. All of great quality.
As we paid and were see out the service again was outstanding and friendly.
I couldn't fault this place in any way and highly recommend. If you do pay a visit you may just see me there as I will surely become a frequent visitor....
