Java Braidwood — Restaurant in Braidwood

I walked in with modest expectations, but this place absolutely blew me away! The food was damn amazing - and I say this as someone who worked at a five-star restaurant, so I know what quality looks like. The flavors were authentic, beautifully balanced, I ordered nasi goreng.

The spice levels were tailored more for the local palate, which honestly is the only minor critique I have. As someone who loves their food seriously spicy, I would have appreciated a bit more heat. But that's purely a personal preference, and for most diners here, the spice level will probably be spot on.

Everything else was exceptional - the techniques, the presentation, the depth of flavor was there. This is genuine Javanese dish done right. If you're looking for authentic Indonesian food with restaurant-quality execution, don't sleep on this place. Just ask them to crank up the heat if you like it spicy like I do....

Braidwood has Indonesian restaurant??? This can’t be serious. My partner took me to this place on our weekend get away. I didn’t know about this restaurant till I parked the car right at front. I don’t think, I want to go to Indonesian restaurant, in the country town… in Braidwood let alone in Sydney I’m very picky. Well, well well when I look at the menu. I knew it right away. The foods are going to be good. We started with Tahu goreng and Emping with Sambal bawang for dipping, Yum marvellous then ordered three main courses like Eubergine with rica rica sauce, Rendang and Baramundi rica rica sauce also some rice. Man, this place made me so happy. Chef Daniar, thanks for your beautiful foods, We wanted more Kue Pandan but We were so full. Definitely the best Indonesian foods I ever had. Nasi goreng with a corn fritter was tasty but $32 for fried rice and a Coke at lunch is almost double what I pay in Sydney at a trendy Thai place for basically the same thing. Food was fine but not a huge portion to go along with the price tag. Our family of 4 would need to think twice about eating here for $130 for lunch. Edit: This was not on a public holiday.
