Granted we came on Fathers Day for brunch however, the experience was far from idyllic. We weren't offered menus or water for the first 10 minutes, and were unable to get anyone's attention.

Coffee order took 20mins to come out, basic breakfast also took well over 20 mins after that. Mine was cold so sent it back, my friend asked for butter for the toast, further 20 mins went by, her eggs cold, so asked for the butter again and then for a new order as the eggs were dead cold.

My plate came back with toast and no butter so asked for it again, my friends plate then came back with the same cold eggs on it, 2 new pieces of toast and a small side dish of butter that had dirty crumbs all through it. At that juncture we had had enough, requested to speak to the manager who was running around like a blue arsed fly, the entire restaurant in complete disarray.

We were finally able to convey our thoughts on the food and service and requested a refund, of which we did recieve, and were promptly told, sorry I couldn't help you.

For the amount of staff this restaurant has, there is a huge problem with organisation. Instead of the wait staff having assigned tables, it's an all in affair and things are being missed. No one knows what anyone is doing and we weren't the only ones requesting money back.

The menu itself doesn't provide information of food requirements or allergies, you have to go and "ask" the wait staff, who have no clue anyway.

Really disappointing for such a lovely...

I had an exceptionally bad experience with this restaurant.

I ordered prawns, and they tasted off. Upon further examination, I noticed a very strong rotten odor, and these prawns were very soggy and had unusual black dis-colouration. The prawns had gone bad. I asked the waiter to take the prawns back to the chef, and the waiter came back advised the chef insist they are fresh. However, the chef did not return the prawns to me if he/she felt that they were fresh enough for human consumption, destroying the evidence in the process.

I have taken a photo of the prawns in question. These prawns appear soggy, and an unusually black colour is visible on the head area.

Based on my past experience working in the hospitality industry, it would appear that the prawn had been left at room temperature or less than ideal temperature for too long.

The waiter say she escalated our complaint to the manager, which do not know what it means, nor did the waiter took my details.

This type of experience should have never happened to any customer. Further, if any customers complained about the quality of the food, we don't destroy the evidence and ceased all communication and interactions with the customers, expecting customer to just leave the restaurant quietly.

For the risk and the restaurant refuse to take responsibility, we advise people to stay away from...

I recently visited this Cafe La Mer for Mother's Day and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Despite booking a table in advance, we were not seated in our desired location under the tree because it was overly crowded. To make matters worse, we waited for over 1.5 hours and still did not receive our food. It got to the point where we had to ask for a refund as it was clear that we were not going to be served anytime soon.

What made matters worse was the staff's lack of concern or apology for the situation. While it was understandable that it was a busy day, the poor planning and management of time and service were evident. The situation was so dire that another customer who was also waiting for her food approached us and shared her concerns, as her mother was diabetic and needed to eat.

It was disappointing that they couldn't accommodate the influx of customers despite setting up additional tables and chairs, which were placed in the rain and left customers uncomfortable. I understand that Mother's Day can be hectic, but it is unacceptable for a business to ruin such a special occasion for so many familie due to lack of organisation and planning.

Overall, my experience was terrible and I would not recommend this...

Cafe La Mer is that hidden gem amongst the Manly Harbour precinct. Our visit was a last minute arrangement for just my wife and myself on a Saturday morning. The ambience had a good vibe to it. From ordering at the counter to receiving our orders was just a good enough length of time. Our young waitress was bubbly and very engaging and held the conversation perfectly. Definitely a credit to her and the business. The food was brilliant and the presentation was so good. Coffee and Tea was really nice too. Wheelchair access shouldn't be a problem. It is a casual dining experience and there is inside/outside sitting options and also an area where you can sit and dine over the water and watch the hustle and bustle of Marine life. Please remember, if you are not a member of the Precinct where the Cafe is situated you will need to park in the non-members car park which is situated about 100 meters away. If you are a member, then you can park literally right outside the cafe. The toilets are close by and are kept clean and presentable. Definitely will make the time to visit here again.

The seating area was pleasant in the good weather we had. Unfortunately, the rest was trying. My partners pecan pie was mistakenly taken to another table and then returned to the kitchen, only to come back a bit less than 10 minutes later. There were four food order table mix-ups whilst we were there, though we all had table numbers. All shakes and smoothies, though costing almost $10 come out in flimsy plastic take away cups, which in a windy outdoor location go flying if you aren’t holding them. The milkshake I had, astoundingly wasn’t mixed. My first mouthful of drink was purely vanilla syrup. The poached eggs with my halloumi stack were hard boiled. Very disappointing, especially when the meal cost $25. We waited for a very long time for the food, so didn’t want replacement eggs. I’d love to go back again as the location is nice, but the food is very expensive, and this was a baffling experience for us. Working in hospitality myself, I can’t fathom how so many basic processes can go wrong so often, especially as patronage was only at approx 60%. Really disappointing.
