I took the 6 o’clock flight from Melbourne to Brisbane to start my coffee tour as early as possible. The moment I arrived at the airport, I immediately grabbed my luggage and jumped into the next Uber to get as fast possible to Cavalier Coffee Roasters.
They have just “soft-opened” their brand-new café last week. Some details were still in the making - for example the coffee menu board - but all the equipment was already perfectly working, and the friendly stuff gave me a very warm welcome. While taking me through the menu, the barista explained to me all their available coffees in details.
I then ordered a pain aux raisins (I had to eat breakfast too) along with a traditional flat white and their Flywheel espresso blend, and a Flywheel batch brew. The flat white was very sweet and very creamy. The coffee cut well through the milk with a long, sweet finish. After my second sip, I saw Ellie waving to me from the outside. It seems that even in Brisbane I cannot visit a café without being recognized… how funny is that!
Having coffee together is so much more fun than sitting alone at a table. Ellie also ordered a milk beverage. Interestingly, the barista textured the milk for her, but let her pour the desired amount into her espresso. That reminded me of Caleb’s Tigerous Espresso bar (which scared me a lot – as I am bad in latte art myself).
Soon later, Serena, Henry and Billy also joined our table, and we later continued our coffee shop tour together. JB – the head roaster and air guitar champion – then also kindly showed me the roastery, which is just behind a window.
I love when you can see where the coffee has been roasted – or let’s say: I love to see where the magic happens. Cavalier is a smaller-sized roastery where most working steps are done manually. The Loring roaster is perfectly shiny, like polished!
When you smell the green coffee bags, when you see the metal buckets full of roasted beans, and you spot a manual packing line, you understand immediately, that here everything is done with love and passion. And this you can taste when you sip and enjoy the coffee at their...
Read moreThis café is all about quality – from the carefully selected beans to the beautifully brewed coffee, every cup here feels crafted with intention. The flavour is smooth, rich, and just the right balance, perfect for those who truly appreciate a good brew.
The interior is stylish and welcoming, with a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settle in and unwind. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy your coffee slowly, without feeling rushed. The service was equally impressive – warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which really adds to the overall experience.
There’s a clean toilet available on-site, and about eight parking spots within the property, making it super convenient whether you’re just dropping by or planning to stay a while. It’s clear this café takes pride in both its coffee and its customer experience.
If you’re looking for a calm, beautifully designed spot that serves high-quality coffee with a side of good vibes, this place should definitely be...
Read moreThe ideal coffee roastery experience. Went to Cavaliers with my partner today. Was greeted by Luke and Sam. I Asked if they had batch brew or filter coffee going, they had three. And they kindly gave me a sample. I ordered from an extensive menu of single origins for my hand poured filter coffee. I chose an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. When it was served, I was given the full tasting experience: tasting card, a small dish of coffee grinds to smell, and iced cup (never had this before), a warmed cup, and the filter coffee in a carafe. As for food, they offer a selection of pastries and toasties. We got two toasties. Both awesome, but that pulled beef was the winner. After my breakfast, I got an espresso on the House blend - Maverik. Stunning. And, had to buy a take home bag of their filter coffee blend. Filter blends, as opposed to single origins, are a rare treat. Will definitely be back. The service and experience was...
