Mons Thai is a charming and comfortable restaurant located in Camp Hill, one of only two restaurants on the street, which contributes to its quiet and relaxing atmosphere. During our visit, we tried the chicken cashew with jasmine rice and the beef pad see ew. Both dishes were enjoyable, though they lacked the authentic depth of flavour typically associated with traditional Thai cuisine. The standout, however, was the sticky rice with mango, which was perfect and perhaps the best sticky rice I’ve had in Australia. Their in-house lemon lime bitters was also refreshing, making it a great choice for a summer evening. Despite a full house on a Tuesday evening, the atmosphere remained calm and peaceful. There was no intrusive background music, and the seating arrangement was spacious, which contributed to a comfortable dining experience. The restaurant was also impressively clean and well-organised, one of the most orderly venues I’ve encountered in Brisbane. Overall, the food was satisfying, and I look forward to exploring more of the menu on future visits.

Following the recent announcement of Mind being the best Thai restaurant in Brisbane me and my two friends promptly booked a table. We had a fantastic evening with delicious food and incredibly kind and tentative staff who were ever so kind and courteous. We ordered the duck pancakes, papaya salad, Wagyu green curry, Tom yum, and the pad see ew. Anyone who comes to Mons HAVE to order the Greek curry and Tom yum they were completely outstanding dishes. Don't be afraid of the apple and lychee in the curry, they bring incredible depth of flavour and texture to the dish. All three of us promptly went to paw paw cafe in Woolloongabba to purchase a jar of their home made curry paste which was used to make the curry. The Tom yum is one of the best I have ever had, and it can only be explained as thick and rich - absolutely fantastic. the only issue was that we ordered a too small size for the three of us.

We decided to return to Mons Thai after a wonderful experience from their New Year’s Eve banquet. We ordered the fried chicken as the entree along with prawn pad thai and the Penang curry. For the portion sizes it’s not exactly worth the price. I don’t think I could possibly justify $13 for fried chicken or $26 for a prawn pad thai, curry was $28 or so with not much chicken in it either. The flavours of the fried chicken and prawn pad Thai was average. Given the price they’re charging you’d expect better quality. The winner of the night was the Penang curry, however as aforementioned the portion size doesn’t justify the price. Having tried many Thai places around, it just seems a bit absurd to have such steep prices. Some tweaking to the menu prices and portion sizes would go a long way. Service was lovely nonetheless.

Absolutely Terrible service from start to finish! The manager Danny is rude, arrogant and unhelpful and the restaurant service is severely lacking !! Danny should quit if he hates his job! I sent Danny an email earlier in the afternoon to book the inside of the restaurant area but never received a reply from him. When I quizzed him he told me he was too busy. I tried to book an inside table on a rainy night and decided to call up rather than book online and pay a $40 booking guarantee due to the risk of being seated outside or on a bad table position!! When I called I was told by Danny the manager that I couldn’t dine inside the true restaurant, but only dine in the courtyard area. That’s after he told me that if I booked online I had a better chance of being inside the true restaurant at the 6pm time slot I required. Go figure!! I also asked for a 6 pm time slot but was told that inside was totally booked out and that I had to come at 5.30pm and all he had was a table in the courtyard area. I arrived at 5.35 pm to be ushered into the courtyard area rather than the true inside of the restaurant while it was totally empty!! I ended up leaving at 7.15 pm and nobody was seated inside the true restaurant the whole time I was dining there since 5.35pm. Everybody who arrived before and after me was ushered into the courtyard area rather than the true inside restaurant. The courtyard was very hot and the acoustics were extremely bad! There was also 2 air conditioners that were not turned on the whole time I was there!! What is going on! Also the meals were overpriced, undersized and underwhelming, and the service was terrible having to “flag down” the waiters just to get a drink of even a bottle of water! We couldn’t even get a second bottle of tap water with 3 of the 4 diners only drinking water! We ordered 2 serves of rice but it came in the 1 small bowl which was the same size as 1 serve of rice. Felt ripped off! Had to wait a very long time for the meals and everyone who ordered after us got their meals before us. I ask again - What is going on with that ? Suffice to say I will never be back and I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy!! A truly terrible experience with the main focus on profit not people! THE OWNERS REPLY AND RESPONSE IS COMPLETELY FALSE AND...

The food was great but the service was very disappointing. They don't allow customers to bring birthday cake. We went there for my husband's birthday and told us we couldn't bring the cake in. Apparently it's in their policy. I was just curious for their reason for it as all the restaurants I've been to are okay with it. When I asked curiously, the manager got into defensive mode and said if we imagine if they let everyone bring a cake, they're fridge would just be full of cake and he went on about how it would be a Covid risk. I felt the manager could've just given a quick answer and be nicer about it. I didn't want it to dampen my husband's birthday celebration so we put the cake back in the car and we just went ahead and ate there anyway. We enjoyed the food but the service ruined it for me. It's such a shame because the food was amazing but we and our friends will not be back there again. It wasn't a nice...
