The old butcher's shop in Camp Hill is a pleasant little place to hang out if you have a bit of spare time. The laid back location is on the corner of Martha and Newman Streets, Camp Hill. The cafe is well supported by locals, and it subsequently has a great community vibe, which is always a good sign. The coffee is good, the homemade goodies are delicious, but my favourite, besides the clever name, is the old fashioned milkshakes and the lemon tart. Your pet pooches are welcomed, if on a leash. It's a very busy, popular spot, especially with local Mums, so service can be slow. Limited space inside the cafe does hinder quick customer service. Most seating is outside, which is lovely al fresco dining on a summer's day, not so lovely on a cold rainy day - which is not for long in sunny Brisbane. They do have window seating inside, but once again, the small area can feel a bit crowded. Catering and takeaways are definitely their speciality -- children's parties, dinner parties, delicious take home meals, gourmet pies and other tasty treats are available for smart busy people. I do love the adorable little decor features, the fresh flowers, interesting homemade cards which certainly adds atmosphere to their little cafe. So take the time and look around. The cheese grater light fixtures in the window, and the delicious little treats on their counter are lovely. Portion sizes tend to be larger than the norm, so do ask for smaller servings if you are a light eater, or cut costs and share with a friend. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. I've heard In A Pickle offer children's cooking classes - so check out their website for...
Read moreI wanted to take my family of five out for breakfast on Saturday morning. I tried calling from midday Friday to which the phone would ring out and say the message back was full and you could not leave a message. I tried to book online, which had no online booking facility, so I then thought you didn’t need bookings and there would be plenty room and you would get a table no problems. When I arrived with my family five To my disappointment, there were approximately six big wooden outdoor bench settings which each table sat eight people. They were all occupied by a single person or two people on each table of eight then I went inside and asked if there’s a table for five they said if you can find a table I said they all occupied by a single person or a couple. Do you know if they’re waiting for Takeaway coffees has a lot of them did not have food in front of them and they replied we don’t know you’ll have to ask them so with that I walked two doors up to a beautiful café with beautiful decor and nice little push bike on the outside and was greeted professionally and seated on a inside table served straight away. With amazing food so In a Pickle missed out on $189 and Picnic On Martha made a extra $189 and gained a...
Read moreI have been a regular at In A Pickle for more than 15 years. Long time eater, first time reviewer! I've had at least 300 excellent visits.
The staff are lovely and long-lasting, nearly all are familiar faces.
The food is excellent, and it's my go to for work-from-home breakfast BLAT & coffee, take-home lasagna, gourmet ciabatta roll for lunch, muffins and cakes & THE SALADS.
The salads are different every day, and they are all excellent (though I do have my favourites). The salads are my go-to for any bring-a-plate event, and they are so much better than a certain other fancy salad shop in our area...
Weekends for brunch is the full brunch works with very impressive and instragram-worthy delicious plates.
IAP have catered the last several Christmases at our house and any time I need to pretend I have cooking skills IAP will whip something up.
Anyone who is in town and asking for recommendations this is the top of my list for places to go. IAP for lunch was the best part about a day off school, and continues to be a weekend lunch treat.
Also its pretty unusual to see a small business cafe & caterer trade non-stop for more than 20 years - truly a part of the...
