My experience of Straits coffee shop is far different to others' comments. Last week, my takeaway small flat white was put in a pink paper cup with lid. The paper cup collapsed in my car - lid came off and an inch or more of coffee spilled into my car coffee holders. When I stopped (5mins away from shop), I thought the lid had just come off. Wrong. The coffee was coming through the paper cup itself. What a mess. I couldn't even pick the cup up without spillage and had to throw the whole thing away. The leakage was significant and required a lot of mopping up. The young woman who had served me that cup, was again at the counter this morning. When I calmly advised her of what had happened, she asked if I had had a blue takeaway cup - as she had had lots of similar complaints about that coloured cup. I explained that it was a smaller pinky coloured cup. She stated that the store had been given quite a number of those small pink cups and commented that "someone must have wanted to get rid of them". When I said that they needed to throw them out themselves, she wasn't interested. A half-hearted apology was barely given. When I politely asked for a compensatory small flat white coffee today in the stronger white cups, she seemed surprised and reluctantly provided me with this without good grace. I was astounded at her unfriendly attitude. Customer service is definitely not her forte. I add that both weeks, the cups of coffee that she made were undrinkable as well. On both occasions, the first sip was bitter, unpleasant and not at all smooth. I could not drink this today either. Other reviews speak of good coffee. This was far from that. Will not be attending this coffee shop again. The same young woman served me mid-morning on both occasions, My experience at this shop, certainly didn't match the other good reviews. So, back to 3 other coffee shops in the area for me - where service is given with a smile and coffee is excellent. A bad experience twice...
