This has to be one of my worst dining experiences I have ever experienced.
Entering the venue we were not acknowledge once and were ignored several times at the bar just trying to be seated. When we told the staff the name for our booking, which was for 3 people, we were told to sit at Table 5. Table 5 was already occupied and would only accommodate 2 people anyway. The hostess looked around the dining area the rest of the tables were also reserved. We were asked to sit outside on a picnic table in the back corner next to the main road. The table was beginning to mould from being left in the rain. The lamps which were the only source of lighting were we were sat we also flickering and losing power throughout our meal.
We then ordered through the QR code and had to go in and check if our meals were coming after 40 minutes. We were told that they would come soon. My mum and I ordered burger which arrived first with no serviettes or cutlery... my grandmothers meal (fish and chips) came out about 10 minutes later. All of our meals only consisted of the white bitter part of the lettuce cut into huge pieces. The tomato on the burgers were also cut so thick they could've been sliced into 3. Considering you are going to a restaurant and paying a premium you'd think you would be getting the best part of the produce...
Cutlery finally came out in a caddy along with the fish and chips. In the caddy we had 2 peppers instead of a salt and pepper... It was literally one thing after the next wrong with this place. We asked the long haired male staff member if he could get us a salt shaker along with table water.
When we received the water, I went to take a sip and I could smell the alcohol from the previous customers drink. The glasses clearly hadn't been cleaned thoroughly or even at all by the smell of them... 🤢
The staff straight up seemed to be very incompetent with little to no training in customer service or hospitality. The male staff member that served us had curly long hair past his shoulders that wasn't tied back let alone tamed probably should've been contained in a hair net...
Super disappointed with every aspect of our experience at Oxley Tavern. First and last time visiting. Management should be ashamed...

Read moreVery poor experience here last night, understaffed and rude management. My cousin made a booking for our family of 6… our table wasn’t ready when we got there but the young bartender Jayden was very apologetic and explained they couldn’t access the booking system, but set up a table for us straight away. I’ve only given 2/5 stars for the amazing service from him, otherwise a 0/5 would better suit. Felt very sorry as Jayden seemed to be only one working in the entire venue - taking orders, bringing out food and drinks, and looking after the pokie space too. Definitely need more staff working on such busy nights.
What was even more disappointing to see and hear was when the black haired woman with tattoos who seemed to be in charge, came over while Jayden was making drinks for me and interrupted us talking to ask him where some other drinks were. She seemed frustrated and told him they needed to be made now as if he wasn’t already running around enough! Terribly unprofessional and rude as I was mid sentence and hadn’t even paid for my drinks yet. I had only seen her before this point behind and with her back to the bar by the pokie marchines. After this she did come cleans some tables around us, but if she was there the whole time I’m not sure why she wasn’t helping earlier. Very disappointing.
On a positive note, food was a little on the slow side but was delicious, venue seems well maintained and a nice outdoor space too. Would also be nice to see other cuts of steak and...
