They just NEVER miss!

I have been a regular that comes once a week on most weeks and in the time over Christmas and NY when they were closed, I was so sad, because I really looked forward to it!

Then when they were open again last week, they had just run out of Crispy Pork. And that started my entire debacle that I wrote reviews for other places to address. Because no matter how hard I try..

No one, and I mean NO ONE has ever outdone this place on their Banh Mi Heo Quay.

I drive out of my way to come here and it’s so worth it. I’m only just now writing a review because now I’ve had to go without, it makes me appreciate them more and more. And they deserve every good review they have!

The ladies are lovely, they recognise me and are super polite, and most importantly make quality rolls time and time again. The bread is fresh and crispy, the pate is perfect, the pork is uber crispy and the roll is STUFFED.

There’s a reason this place has an ā€œappreciation postā€ on Reddit. I’ve tried them all. Scotts Road has the best Banh Mi.

Also, make no mistake. The roll is the perfect size. I just have large hands.

Perhaps call ahead if just after lunch time, cos they might have run out of Crispy Pork. Ps: they only take cash. But the Newsagent next door offers cash out for a...

Finally, found a banh-mi place in Brisbane that actually tastes great. Coming from NSW we were so disappointed that almost all of the banh-mi shops we've been to in Brisbane they're always in pre-made rolls wrapped in cling film and in the fridge. Sorry, rant over. Let me reiterate, Scotts Road Takeaway is NOT one of those places, it's an absolute gem of a banh-mi shop.

We got the Pork Roll and Vietnamese Roast Pork Roll to go halvies and share between us. Both are excellent even though they could have added more ingredients. That garlic mayo in the Pork Roll is just amazing! Crusty roll and soft on the inside. The rolls are warm and hearty. But of a wait as the team are furiously making your roll fresh, but it's worth the wait. It was $5.50 for the Pork Roll and $6.50 for the Vietnamese Roast Pork Roll. An absolute steal of a meal. Even though it's not as good as Marrickville Pork Roll in Sydney, still a worthy 5 stars.

Brisbane needs to up their banh-mi standards and Scotts Road Takeaway will help...

I have heard so many times how amazing the Bahn Mi rolls are here, best in Brisbane apparently. These are by far the worst in terms of flavour I have ever had. There is zero zest to the vegetables and the French influences must have flown back to France because they are no where to be found. I truly have no idea how people are giving this place 5 stars. Cafe An kills these for flavour

Also the guy serving me was coughing up a lung. Dude if you are sick stay far away from food prep. that is very poor service to be at work sick. Also the cash only situation is pathetic. Its 2025 not 1949.

The atmosphere of the place has a run down look and when I entered I thought the place was closed. There is nowhere to sit inside.

Any positives - The food itself was fresh but as mentioned lacked flavour. The prices are very good $7.50 for a pork roll and can of drink $2, but I feel the low price reflects the lack of Jazz other Bahn Mi's stores have.

It was definitely not worth the 32km drive to try a...

Scott’s Road Takeaway in Darra is the holy grail of pork banh mi. No fuss. No hype. Just pure crunchy, porky perfection. This is Brisbane’s first banh mi shop, and honestly? It’s still the best. The bread crackles like it was baked by angels. The pork is tender like it knows what you’ve been through. And the price? So good I had to check I wasn’t in a parallel universe where things still make sense. Forget your $15 city banh mi with truffle mayo and activated air. This is real, this is local, and this is love served in a baguette. Scott’s Road Takeaway is not just a lunch stop, it’s a sacred ritual. A crunchy, coriander-filled, chilli-blessed journey of the soul. Thank you, Darra. You’ve kept the banh mi dream alive… and my tastebuds are forever grateful. Some say Scott’s Road Darra have the best banh mi in Brisbane. I don’t know if I’ve ever been to the store but randomly found myself enjoying one of their banh mis, albeit before realising it was from here! It was part of a bulk catering order that someone else in church organised for an event, and I didn’t find out until afterwards that it was from Scott’s Road. Great value at $5 each. The bread crust had a bit of crisp and crunch, and the inside was soft. I wouldn’t normally order the version with sliced pork, but appreciated the opportunity to have it this time and enjoy the combination with pate - nice and tasty. Would have appreciated a bit of chilli, but our entire order was without chilli to cater for a wider audience.
