I recently visited Damien and Michelle's, Mi Piace Espresso Bar , and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! This cafe has gained a well-deserved reputation for its delightful food combinations and top-notch coffee.

The menu offers a variety of dishes, each showcasing a thoughtful blend of ingredients that cater to different tastes. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch, there's something for everyone.

The baristas are clearly passionate about their craft, serving up some of the best coffee I’ve had in a long time. The rich aroma and deep flavors in each cup were a highlight of my visit. It's clear that they use high-quality beans and pay attention to the brewing process, ensuring that each drink is crafted to perfection.

One of the standout features of their Expresso Bar is the professional customer service. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making our visit enjoyable. Our orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived at our table in no time, which I appreciated. It's refreshing to see a team that is so dedicated to providing excellent service.

This used to be a favourite, unfortunately I won’t be back after the recent behaviour I witnessed! I was with two ladies and one forgot to put her mask on as she walked in and was promptly told to put in on by Damian (fair enough, but his tone was surprisingly quite abrupt), and as she fumbled in her bag for it he said it again. Ok, give the girl a minute! We were all surprised by his passive aggressive comments. Then as we were shown to our table he said it yet again! And as we all sat down and began to look at our menus, my friends and I then took off our masks and Damian again said that she needed to have her mask on when she entered. Ok, okay! She had it on and had now taken it off! By this stage it was getting ridiculous, so I told him to “chill, and the repetition was unnecessary and not the way to talk to customers” He doubled down and repeated himself yet again for the fifth time! I mean is this really necessary??? The lady had put on her mask when asked, and didn’t need to be talked down to , it was so condescending and frankly disgusting for her to be belittled publicly like that even after she had complied with his order. I was not going to stand by and watch my friend treated so badly, so said to the ladies to go elsewhere. As myself and the ‘unmasked’ lady walked out, the other lady who goes there regularly got told by Damian “don’t worry, YOU’RE always welcome back here” meaning me and my other friend aren’t! I understand we’re living in Covid times and there are rules to live by (I’m triple vaxxed and religiously wear masks everywhere), and perhaps he was just having an ‘off’ day, but his behaviour was so OTT, that’s no way to treat customers! I do hope he takes my comments on board and...

It was my first day in Cairns and my partner and I decided to go to Mi piace as it was close to our hotel and had good reviews. I guess I must’ve come in a bad day. I’m a coffee lover and for the Almond latte I was happy enough. I felt slightly uncomfortable with the lady who attended my partner and I, as she was overbearing on her way of talking with customers. For example, I’ve asked If I could seat in another table and she said “No, it’s for 4 people only.” Alright, I completely understand the facility’s policies but she could’ve been more polite “oh, I’m sorry, we reserve this table for groups of 4 only”, with a smile and gentle manner. Either way, we carried on with our orders and I ordered a simple toast with scrambled eggs. It’s simple and tasty. But the eggs were watery, tasteless and smelling fish. I had my first two bites and on the third I’ve decided to request to replace it. The same lady cameback and looked surprised after I’ve explained. I decided to just order bread with butter instead, as I was not happy with the eggs. I’ve worked in Hospitality and if a client is not happy with a dish, the minimum you can do is not to charge it. She did ask if I wanted the same dish again, but afraid of receiving similar eggs I asked for bread with butter, which took another 10-15 minutes. By the end they additionally charged the bread (so, lattee + fishy half-eaten eggs + bread and butter - which I thought was a replacement). I’m sorry but this is one star for you guys, I hope this review is taken in the best way possible.
