We were directed to this café by the partner hotel next door. During our first breakfast, everything went well: we were entitled to five dishes from the menu for hotel guests (drinks not included, which we understood). However, things took a turn during the second breakfast.
My partner, who is allergic to several foods, couldn’t eat any of the dishes offered the first time, but the chef kindly agreed to prepare a suitable dish for her. The next day, the restaurant manager flatly refused, despite the hotel manager’s efforts to negotiate a solution.
This manager (an Asian woman, specifying as we don’t know her name) behaved in an unacceptable manner: speaking rudely, throwing the menu onto the table, and even refusing a decision approved by her own director on the grounds of not having “written proof.” She then tried to apologize by offering a cookie… knowing full well that my partner is allergic to eggs.
Such a lack of professionalism and empathy is unacceptable. A disappointing experience we wouldn’t...
Read moreThe coffee and food is great. However, we had a bizarre experience with a staff member.
Upon entering the cafe it’s not immediately apparent whether you order from the counter or there’s table service. We lined up at the counter for several minutes, got to the front and were told it’s actually table service. We were on the way to the airport for a flight, so we were on a deadline.
When my wife enquired as to whether we could just order and pay then sit down, we were told forcefully, no, we had to go sit down and wait to be served. So we proceeded to sit down, wait a few minutes and have someone come take our order.
The whole thing was weird, especially because there’s no indication this is the system and it actually just took more time and effort for everyone involved. Could we have just said were getting takeaway and sat down after? Would they have kicked us out? Truly a Pandora’s box of strange seating and ordering conundrums.
Food and coffee was...
Read moreAn incredible breakfast experience! With 6 speciality coffee recipes to choose from, my partner and I struggled to choose, but ultimately ended up trying 3 between us. The unusual and incredibly creative blends each surprised and impressed us, with aromatic undertones each complementing bold and smooth coffees and creamy and light matcha. Completely engrossed in this specialty coffee menu, we each chose an eggs Benedict for breakfast. Almost regretting our decision after ordering, we were again completely surprised to receive the best eggs Benedict either had ever ordered - from the yuzu hollandaise, perfect and evenly poached eggs to the spiced avocado, every element of this meal was elevated from the traditional. To top off this beautiful dining experience, the friendly and welcoming nature of the staff so clearly passionate about their unique menu encapsulated a faultless Monday morning pitstop. We’ll certainly be back. Thank you, Goose...
