If you look through my reviews you will see that I'm a very fair and linient person when it comes to businesses as I know how tough it is to keep any establishment running well.
Today has really impacted my opinion of pantry 15. The level of service was very ordinary and I'll explain why.
My family and I were excited to have brunch today after a full morning of spring cleaning.
We originally were going to have pho (in hindsight we should have).
After ordering chicken tacos and a few other dishes, I sat down with my daughter and son. What transpired next was certainly not expected.
As customer started to pour in we thought we had just narrowly missed the lunch hour rush. Much to our surprise 30mins passed and only 1 of our dishes as served.
I reminded the staff of our other orders and they said they are busy but it should be out soon.
Another 30mins later, chicken tacos came out but was brought to a different table, one that came later and ordered later.
I was furious not just because of the 1hr wait but my kids are now hangry. I marched up to the counter and asked why had customers who came later have the exact item we ordered 1 hour ago?
This was met with indifference and the same excuse as before, 'sorry we are busy'.
Busy? That's not even the reason why someone who came later got served the same dish we ordered earlier. That's called a mistake. That's called 'opps, we misplaced you docket for the kitchen and we messed up'.
No acknowledgement of the error, no 'can I get you a quick starter while we quickly rectify the error', no 'terribly sorry for our mistake, I'll make sure your order is the next one out'.
Nothing, after letting the staff know that we will be leaving if the food is not out in the next 5 mins we were eventually served.
It's amazing how just this interaction left a sour taste in our mouths (even though the food itself is good).
I would have appreciated a gesture of sort, 'we are sorry, here's a main meal on us next time you come visit'. Of course that's probably a bit much to ask given the response we got today.
Utterly upsetting. Can't remember ever having such an experience anywhere we've eaten in Cairns.
I hope the owner sees this and...
Read moreEdit: It has now been just over an hour since we left this establishment, my friend and I who partook in the Roasted Beef Baguette have both been sick. My friend more so who has thrown up the small half he ate. I'm feeling unwell in the stomach myself, fortunately not enough to throw up.... So far. I've reduced my original star rating due to this, I'm not sure if anything was off but regardless, the Baguette was bad enough for both of our bodies to respond negatively. Edit edit: I have now also been sick. I'm sorry to say but based on today's experience I would have given a 0 stars if possible. We appreciate that it is a small restaurant and I have no doubt the management/staff are enthusiastic and passionate about thier work however this experience has not reflected that.
This has the potential to be fantastic, good selection of drinks, food and smoothie bowls. The interior is quaint but serviceable, cutlery was stored upside down in pencil holder, the bottom of which was rusted out. Not the best place to keep your cutlery unless your a fan of rust.
Our experience was further hindered by a very unappealing Beef Baguette, both the flavor and appearance was appalling. The lettuce was wilted from being toasted and the beef was chewy and bland. The only flavor came from the overpowering caramalised onion which wasnt evenly spread resulting in a sandwich with no flavor except for a blob of concentrated flavor in the middle. Furthermore we found what looked like a small hair but couldn't confirm. We informed the wait staff who responded with "sorry for that" as they collected the plate. No offer of a replacement meal or taking the item off the bill was made.
The Toasted Ham and Cheese sandwich, Nachos and Smoothie bowl were gourmet in comparison to the beef baguette, don't be fooled though, pet food would be gourmet in comparison to the beef baguette we had...
Read moreThis paleo cafe has just opened in Hamilton(Newcastle), it has a very clean and vibrant energy to the place. I felt very relaxed whilst eating here.
Plenty of seating to bring your family and friends along. You get a Glass & water on arrival but you have to order at the counter, this should be changed.
They sell lean healthy food and assorted drinks(smoothies, coffee and tea), at above average prices.
I had the eggs and avocado with a long black coffee. The coffee was strong and well blended, just the way I like it. Compared to other cafes this coffee was two or more shots stronger, absolutely beautiful.
'Eat clean, Live Lean' is their motto, and it sure does show in their serving size. 2 eggs, 2 half size slices of their own brand toast and half an avocado, $10. If your looking for a big meal and something to fatten you up, go somewhere else or buy two of these.
The half slices of toast were to small a portion even if you're going for a lean diet. It was a seeded multigran bread of their own brand?? Let me say it wasn't my thing but it was good to try.
Pay them a visit if you want a healthy alternative meal. I will be taking my family back for...
