WON'T BE BACK. won't order food here again.

NEGATIVES: I was almost going to dismiss the slow service due to it being a public holiday however there were a number of things I was also unimpressed with. it took 40 minutes to receive our food when we arrived the person who helped us find a table commented , complaining about having to wipe another table. there were people who arrived after us and were served before us - these people ordered the same things as us staff were constantly bustling past and knocking into the table no water, despite asking, and seeing that other tables had water. The avocado in my wrap tasted off and I feel a bit unwell now the burger was extremely greasy and was dripping grease everywhere

POSITIVES -the place seemed pretty clean -the cappuccinos were very nice👍 -decent ventilation and nice decor -food was...

I can't see from being there tonight how this place received 4.1 stars avg rating?

It wasn't busy, a first sign indicator but I ignored that. Asked for a lager shandy which I was told had a ration of lemonade to lager of about 50:50, it was more like 90:10 lager so I didn't enjoy that. Ordered a 'Thick' milkshake apparently, now I'm of the generation who judges milkshakes against McDonalds, theirs was decidedly liquidy. Ordered a side of skinny fries, which were overly salty, had a small amount left the rest. Ordered the Big Blue, the brioche wasn't pleasant, the blue cheese put me off, and the beef pattie well I had higher expectations, it was chewy and lacked flavour, I'd go so far to say that this was frozen, not fresh.

Overall left most of this ate the beef pattie, left the rest, I didn't complain, just...

I have just joined the list of enthusiastic visitors to Candy Cafe Bar and found out why they've enjoyed it so much.

First up, the warm welcome at the door by the barista who presented me in super quick time with a well flavoured capuccino (Toby's Estate), hot as requested.

Second, a large bottle of filtered table water while deliberating the brunch options (not all cafes provide water automatically). The order was turned around quickly and it was evident the Chef had an eye for presentation as well as flavour.

Couldn't resist the white chocolate brownie with berries - pretty as a picture and didn't last long.

Decor has a nice whimsical feel (and there are outdoor tables also), the prices are very reasonable and the excellent staff make this a cosy retreat....with a glass of...

All day breakfast place in downtown Cairns. Open from 6am to 2pm 7 days a week. I'm not getting up for a 6am breakfast but I went with 2 friends who were keen for breakfast at a normal lunchtime. The food was good as was the portion size. "All good" from that point of view. I didn't like the service. There were too many people serving (three) and they all kept on checking if we wanted to order or if we had any questions. Overkill. One server assigned to a table and asking the questions would have been good but all 3 were doing the same thing. The inside of the restaurant is nicely presented and invokes the name of the cafe -- Candy's. They have a few tables for outside al fresco dining, too if that's your thing.

As a Cairns local, this is by far my favourite cafe in town. Great for a sit in Sunday breakfast/brunch with the family. My pick on a Sunday is the breakfast bruschetta and an iced long black. Chantelle and team are excellent at catering for a toddler too - peanut butter toast isn't on the menu but if you ask, they will gladly serve it up. Candy is also a great quick bypass if you are rushing off to the office or kids sport and just need a little something to keep you going. I navigate towards the croissants and a coffee and get on my way. 10/10 would recommend for locals and visitors alike. Awesome atmosphere and wonderful friendly staff. Can't go wrong!
