Went here for a date and from previous experience we expected nothing short of a great day. Being our anniversary we selected your venue. We get there and are put in queue so we can be seated outside specifying preference in seating as we don't want the long table which is shared. Sadly it all goes down hill from here. People who came after us get seated first, in our preferred seating. My partner was quite upset but I said it was no big deal and just an oversight, so I approach the manager and politely ask when we were getting our table stating the above. He was very nonchalant about my query and we had to wait for a further 10 mins, only to get put on the table which we specifically stated we did not want. Ended with us getting a table as another couple left. We order the drink sampler, wild boar croquettes, a pasta dish and a few other items. The sampler had broken glass on and in one of the samples. I approach the manager again, being pleasant and he just doesn't seem to care. Luckily for me a barman heard me and poured a fresh drink. Food was very average, croquettes were mildly warm and our meals were mediocre at best. Same manager asked us about our meals and we both replied with the fact it was average. There was no request from him asking why that was the case. I didn't want to seem like that one whinging customer for him to complain about later, so didn't take the time to engage him to provide said feedback. Expected a higher standard of service and food from previous experience at this venue, it may have improved since I was there, just a shame if that's the case this time.

We have always loved Mandoon Estate but this is the first time we have eaten at the Homestead Brewery and it will definetely be our last. I ordered the health bowl and a ginger beer. The ginger beer tasted like sugar. Just a glass of sugared water and not even a hint of ginger. I did not try any other beer and two were not available. For lunch I ordered the Health Bowl with Quinoa and millet. As they had taken the menus away I was questioning myself as to what I had ordered and I checked with the waitress if there was meant to be quinoa with my millet. She said oh they have probably forgotten or run out. She clearly couldn’t see it my bowl. Wow. She came back and said oh it’s white quinoa and it’s mixed in with the millet. I advised her that I didn’t think this was the case and that the meal wasn’t worth it. She shrugged her shoulders. I had eaten some of the dish before I took photos but even the vegetables looked awful and there was not a hint of quinoa and if I was a chef I wouldn’t have used white quinoa with millet. Anyhow they took it on board and didnt charge me for their undrinkable ginger beer. I would advise going to mandoon and getting their outdoor chips and pizzas before you buy food in Homestead. The menu is limited and totally misses the mark and the food is way overpriced and underrated. The staff said they would advise the chef but were happy to let us go disatisfied.

Lively busy place with alfresco dining and indoor dining. Some of the tables were really narrow and not long enough. Unfortunately for us we have tall big people with us and we had to squeeze together so it wasn't pleasant or comfortable. The outdoor tables were bigger but on a winter day and with sideways rain, made for some interesting experience. Bookings essential for the restaurant. The food and drinks that we had were quite good. The special Housestead Brewery sauce was different and I liked it. Traditional fish and chips were massive servings. The burgers were big with a smaller serving of chips compared to the fish and chips. If you bring your own cake for birthday celebrations they charge for the service. There is parking it's small compared to the size of the venue. People have been parking down the drive, as in the curbside tree lined drive. We kind of missed the turn off thinking it was separate building. It was the gallery. Large toilet facilities and fully tiled and one of the fanciest we have seen. Fancier than the restaurant.

I had the special which was lamb chops and it was amazing except for the topping which had way to much vinaigrette. My partner had the burger, the patty was over cooked and not nearly big enough to justify the $26. The biggest let down though was the service! Absolutely horrible! From the minute we walked in we were told we have to order everything before 8pm meals , deserts etc (our booking was for 7:45pm) were taken to a table which then took another 5 mins for someone to come with menus who then told us meals by 8pm and desert by 8:30pm! We asked her to check this and she come back 10 minutes later to take our food/ drinks order then told us she would come back for deserts. Took another 5 minutes just to get drinks so by this point it's 20 mins since we were seated and only just got drinks. Entre come out and was great but then 10 minutes later someone comes to ask if we want our mains put through to the kitchen?! Why wasn't this already done?? Meals finally come and as above were pretty good but we sit there for 30 mins waiting for someone to check on us and take our desert and 2nd drink order but nothing... Finally wave the manager over who tells us she will check with kitchen if they will do deserts but never comes back to us with an answer! By this point we are over it... Nearly $100 on dinner and would of gotten better service at Macca's. We won't waste our...
