From 1 Star to 5 Stars in Three Visits – A Complete Turnaround with Exceptional Food, Warm Service, and Family-Friendly Comfort

Our first experience at this restaurant was, frankly, disappointing. Google and the official website listed the closing time as 4pm, so we drove all the way from Perth CBD and arrived at 3:10pm with four young kids — only to be told the kitchen was already closed and no food could be served. With hungry, tired children and no warning that the kitchen closed earlier, it felt like a frustrating waste of time.

We left a review suggesting they update their listed hours. To the restaurant’s credit, they responded within 24 hours and promptly amended the Google listing to reflect a 3pm kitchen close. That gesture showed us they were listening — and it encouraged us to return.

On our second visit, we arrived at 2:20pm. While we were well within kitchen hours, we were repeatedly rushed to order as the kitchen was “closing soon,” which made the start of the meal feel unnecessarily tense. But once our order was in, the mood shifted, and the staff later apologised for the pressure — which we appreciated.

From that point, things only improved — and on our third visit, they truly won us over.

A huge part of the turnaround was due to the outstanding service. Natasha, the restaurant manager, was consistently polite, warm, and thoughtful — her kindness stood out, and she took genuine care to ensure we were comfortable and well looked after. On our third visit, Pablo took the lead in serving us and was equally professional, welcoming, and attentive. Both Natasha and Pablo demonstrated excellent customer service and left a lasting impression.

The food, however, is what elevated the entire experience to something unforgettable.

The Wagyu steak was phenomenal — tender, juicy, and deeply flavourful. Truly one of the best Wagyu steaks we’ve ever had. The risotto was equally stunning — creamy, perfectly seasoned, and luxurious in texture. The sirloin steak was expertly seared and juicy, and the short ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender with a rich, sticky glaze that lingered beautifully. Every single main was crafted with precision and confidence. Even the sides were thoughtfully prepared and elevated the overall meal.

The dessert was fine, though not the highlight — but honestly, after mains that good, nothing could top them.

Beyond the food, the ambience was inviting and thoughtful. The indoor heaters kept us cozy and comfortable. It made for a warm and pleasant dining experience. To top it off, there’s a small kids’ playground right outside — a wonderful feature that kept our children entertained while we waited for our food and wrapped up our meal.

What began as a frustrating encounter turned into one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Perth. This restaurant didn’t just fix a mistake — they won us over through fast action, genuine service recovery, incredible food, and consistent excellence across three separate visits.

We’ve gone from 1 star to 5 stars, and we now consider this a must-visit spot for anyone in the area. Highly recommended — and we’ll definitely...

Our large group gathered at the charming Sandalford Restaurant for a celebration, marking my third visit to this delightful establishment. This time, we decided to enjoy the set menu, which expertly catered to the diverse tastes of our party. The pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the entrée, a stunning arrangement that featured warm, freshly baked bread rolls alongside a luscious honey-roasted quince, perfectly complemented by a creamy almond tart. The addition of exquisite prosciutto di Parma and succulent Shark Bay bug elevated the dish to a whole new level of indulgence.

As for the main courses, they did not disappoint. A delightful variety of flavors and textures pleased everyone at the table, showcasing the kitchen’s impressive culinary range. To conclude our meal, we indulged in dessert; I wholeheartedly recommend the rich, velvety cheesecake for those who crave a sweet finish. For a lighter alternative, the decadent chocolate dessert was truly exceptional, striking a perfect balance between richness and delicacy.

Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making our dining experience feel even more special. The portion sizes were generous, particularly since many of us had wisely decided to skip dinner, which made the experience feel like a splendid value.

Service was nothing short of exceptional. Our server, Brent, was attentive without being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. Moreover, the ample parking available made the visit all the more convenient. Overall, Sandalford Restaurant shines as a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the area, a place where excellent cuisine meets warm...

We went there for both of my parent’s birthday lunch. We went there 4 times last 1 year. We always enjoyed and had a great experience with the atmosphere, friendly staff, and great quality of every dish.

But not this year! We were very disappointed with the food. The pizza was too salty and the crap pasta was too fishy. Smell like not fresh enough and the pasta was so cold when they brought us.

Also, even though it was a complimentary service, I wanted it to be perfect for my parent’s birthday. But when the waitress put the on the table the small cake, she dropped the cake( with a sparkler in it) and it fell into my mom’s bag. Then she grabbed the cake with her hand and put it on the plate and said sorry, but the cake was a mess, and even we didn’t take any proper photos. We understood that she tried her best. But instead of making a mess she should bring it back to the kitchen or whatever and should bring it back to us in good condition even though it is free.

My mom loves your place because of the quality of food and atmosphere but we were very disappointed. We are far away from each other so my celebrating my parents birthday are very important for our family in Sandalford restaurant.

But I don’t think we are going back again. Also if you don’t have the same vege or ingredient as before, you should inform your customer before you take the order. We ordered the same menu for 3years And it was not the same, even though we paid the same or higher amount.

But the steak was delicious as before

Also, it would be nice if your waitress explained to customers about wine tasting and information about your promotion for the...

SANDALFORD RESTAURANT & BAR Refined winery dining, right on the beautiful city’s doorstep. A lovely estate to wander and soak in great vibes. Sandalford Wines is a stalwart of the Swan Valley destination dining scene and never rest on its laurels. Each season, executive chef Alan Spagnolo refreshes his menu to accentuate local produce. Food was exceptional -the Dardanup lamb rump is a must order. Hearty pizzas, hand rolled gnocchis, and if you are in the mood for sharing small plates there is the exquisitely sliced Abrolhos octopus carpaccio, kept light and bright with blackened chilli tomato and muscatel vinegar dressing. The Shark Bay venue clams with spicy chorizo packed a punch and oven baked sourdough pizzas were toasty and delish. Just leave room for dessert - the hazelnut praline as well as chocolate entremet was delectable right to the end. Service is brisk, friendly and extremely helpful every step of the way - the little attention to details like going the extra mile to hand out coloring books to children was lovely. . .
