Fine dining this restaurant is definitely not! I will start by saying the service was fantastic, the wait staff were attentive and polite, sadly that is where it all ends. Our table of 4 was there to celebrate my 60th and we had the degustation which was paired with the recommended wines, the food was “nice” but not one dish really had a ‘wow’ factor and as is the norm with a degustation you are given small portions of the chef’s signature dishes, but small portions here however were ridiculously small as was the accompanying wines and a shot of espresso was exactly that, the smallest coffee we’ve ever seen or had, it wasn’t even a mouthful! Now for the ambiance of the restaurant, the first thing that hits you when you enter is the noise, it is so loud we ALL had trouble hearing the waiters, they had to bow into our personal space so we could hear them over the racket, (forget the 1.5M distancing), there were cloth napkins, but no table cloths and at the end of our meal they were happy to take our order for 3 digestifs at nearly $50, but after serving the drinks, advised we had 15mins to drink them as they were closing, they then proceeded to noisily set the empty tables then started turning off all the lights around us, this was 10.45pm on a Saturday night! The final straw was no table service to pay for the meal, this had to be done at the counter at the entry! The only difference I can see from eating at the Wild Swan to eating at their Homestead Brewery, which we have many times, is the exorbitant prices charged, definitely look elsewhere if you are looking for something special....
Read moreIts very rare I leave a review for a restaurants - mainly because very few can accommodate the sheer range of food intolerances I've lived with for over 40 years which usually means that I simply don't go out to eat. However, I had heard very good things from friends about Chef Anthony (Tony) and since it was a very special occasion for myself and husband ( who can eat every type of food !) we decided to give it a try. I wanted to be optimistic - however the only chef I've known who could produce a truly amazing meal within my dietary restraints was WA's decorated chef, Alain Fabrègues from The Loose Box in Mundaring ( who was awarded the Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 1991 and then a knighthood by France for his services to cuisine.) He had an ability to deconstruct each dish and even each ingredient to its most basic elements and then rebuild the recipe with substitutions to those ingredients to suit any dietary restrictions - yet still create a dish that honoured the taste and texture of the original item. That's absolutely what Chef Anthony did for our lunch and produced a superb meal for us both. It was unbelievable and so very creative. He's a brilliant chef and I only hope he stays in WA for a good while longer so we can enjoy...
Read moreI wholeheartedly recommend The Wild Swan to everyone seeking a remarkable dining experience in Perth. My partner and I recently visited for a celebration and indulged in their exquisite degustation menu. We were truly amazed by the generous portions, exquisite flavors, and the evident care put into each dish. Each course felt like a work of art, beautifully presented and meticulously crafted.
I've also enjoyed delightful lunches with friends at The Wild Swan, including their fantastic all-you-can-eat breakfast. It's the perfect setting to catch up, filled with a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages conversation over your meal.
