Golden Bowl — Restaurant in Collie

I laughed a lot when reading the reviews of this place. More capsicum and pineapple??!!? Hilarious! How about that Jaime bloke, ordered from golden eagle (not golden bowl) and didn't realise. The moment you call to make a booking you know you've got the right place. Short sharp questions and answers with a healthy handful of misunderstanding. The Hallmark of a good Australian Chinese restaurant. So you are eating Chinese food in Collie, the bar has got to be pretty low. Somehow, this place actually delivers a decent feed. I took Benjamin Ho's suggestion and tried the honey black pepper chicken. Winner! Sizzling garlic beef was very good, beef was very tender with no chewy, low quality meat feeling. Hokkien noodles had nice salty taste, not overly sweet. Even entree dumplings and spring rolls were good. Only thing that could have been better was if they had more capsicum and...

A hidden gem in Collie. The Mapo Tofu was quite tasty, and the stir-fried beef with shallots and the pineapple chicken were great too - the meat was really tender.

The place is run by a Chinese couple. We had a chat with the lady and found her very friendly. We only wish we had a few more days in Collie to hear more of her stories and try more dishes.

Food took a bit longer to come out, but it was totally understandable. The slower pace of the food is probably just part of the laid-back small-town...

Expensive and not worth it.

Worst prawn omelette ever $21.50 for 3 prawns and was full of celery, peas & onion. Brought plenty of these from other restaurants and they have never had chunks of celery in them and since when is Oyster sauce runny like water???? Fried rice was boring.

Will try the other restaurant next time. Went by the reviews and I Now regret choosing golden bowl. Waste of money....
