Edited 19/6/23. I always give a second chance. Demoted to 1 star. Would be zero if possible. $23 for an overcooked burnt and dry schnitzel. $3 for a thimble of sauce. They are taking the p-i-s-s. Go elsewhere the review rating doesn't lie. #neveragain ----------------------- 5 stars for the bar staff. Ordered the scotch fillet. I think I got half a one cut in half. And for $32 was a very disappointing serving. It's a busy place so expect to wait a long time. Gravy was served in a plastic cup on the plate, I mean you used real plates and cutlery why do that. Meat was alright but my half of the fillet had the fat streak. $32 later and left a sour taste in my pallet. The 2 stars are for the bar staff who deserve 5. Zero for the bistro.

Got there for the 6 o'clock dinner service to find out the chef was running half an hour late, it caused a bit of chaos on 2 for Tuesday for the oldies that weren't tech savvy and couldn't use the app but for us it was great, we ordered a chicken schnitty that was really big and thick and a massive Hawaiian pizza as part of the 2 for deal and I got a 300 gram Sirloin steak cooked blue with the diane sauce (sauce cost $3 which was a bit much) good sauce though. Steak was cooked perfectly, it actually blew me away that it was cooked perfectly for a blue steak in a country pub. Chef can take all the time be wants when he produces the goods as good as he did.

I rarely If ever leave a bad review, in fact in 300+ reviews I have only 1 other, but after reading previous reviews for here it is clear the owners DO NOT take customer feedback seriously. The food here is shocking stone cold dismal size T Bone (which they did replace) overcooked lamb cutlets, vegetables with all life boiled out of them. Cheese garlic bread was great but it went seriously down hill from there. The food was expensive and extremely poor. The pub has a great feel inside and I put a star each for the 2 girls behind the bar as they where great. Have a few drinks here but do yourself a favor and grab a meal at the take away across the road.

We have dined at this Pub on numerous occasions over the years on our way to Victoria and back up to Queensland. The Pub looked a bit run down back then but the food was always meeting pub food expectations. However last night was by far the worst food we have ever eaten there. Everything is cooked from frozen and nothing is freshly made. We ordered the garlic bread ($7.00) which was actually the best thing out of the whole dinner! One of my kids ordered the pizza ($10) which came with cold soggy chips and burned bread with tons of greasy cheese slapped on top. My other child ordered the fish and chips ($10) which also came along with soggy chips and no dipping sauce. The serves were very small and not only looked unappealing but tasted disgusting too! My husband ordered the spare pork ribs ($28.00) which also came with soggy cold chips and reheated (barely) frozen veggies. As for me, I ordered the veggie stack ($22.00) which was just that... veggies stacked on top of each other and held together with a skewer. Some luke warm suggo sauce had been poured all over it. The sauce hadn't even been cooked, it had just been poured out of a jar. The veggies were a couple of large green capsicum pieces which had been barely chargrilled (not peeled), 2 large mushrooms, a few zucchini slices and a few eggplant slices. This not so devine dining experience set me back $77.00 and I was not happy. Being a hospitality worker myself, I know first hand how tough Covid19 has been and still is for the hospitality and tourism sector and everyone is trying to make a dollar by saving a bit on cost and labour but come on... this is so unfair to the diners who come to support your business. Coonabarabran is a transit town for a lot of tired and hungry travelers, lift your game! I would rather spend my hard earned...

Very poor experience at the bistro tonight. Evening started out well, we purchased drinks and service was great. Sat down and looked at their menu online. Decided on our meals and proceeded to order online to find some of the requested items not available, changed our order to get the desired sides and proceeded to pay online, only to find out we would be charged a surcharge. Choose to ordered over the counter, got what we wanted and no surcharge. Costing $10 less then ordering with the app. Entree was served and very shortly after I saw what I believed were our meals place on the counter. Another person walk up to collect his meals, he started to walk away with the meals I believed to be ours, only to return and place them back on the counter. He spoke to the staff who looked at the order and it appeared that it was decided that they were his meals as he walked back to his table with the meals. Again he return and place the meals on the counter. Those meal were left there and he was given different meals. Our buzzer went off and I was given the meals that had been walked around the dinnig room twice by another customer and returned and left on the counter in my view. When I said to staff that these meals had been given to another customer twice, he looked at me blankly. I asked to speak to the manager and the staff member just beckoned the chef, who came out and asked if there was a problem. I explained my issue to him and he with his attitude said he could put them on new plates. I asked for a discount and was told I would not be getting a discount. I demanded new meals not just put on clean plates. Very poor experience and would not recommend the place to any...
