A Cozy Stop in Corowa — Reuben, Mushroom Toastie & Flat White at Doc & Eatery
During my visit to Corowa, I discovered Doc & Eatery, nestled right in the heart of town. It’s a charming café known for its hearty, comfort-food breakfasts and solid coffee offerings .
⸻
What Stood Out:
Reuben Sandwich
Deliciously layered and perfectly toasted, the Reuben was a flavour-packed delight. The balance of savoury corned beef (or pastrami), tangy sauerkraut, and melted cheese between crisp bread made every bite satisfying and memorable.
Mushroom Toastie
This was a cozy, umami-forward masterpiece—creamy mushrooms nestled in toasty, golden bread. It hit the mark with warmth and homely flavours, perfect for a laid-back morning.
Flat White
My coffee was spot-on. Smooth, perfectly textured, and rich—just how a flat white should be. In line with the café’s reputation for “great coffee” and a modern, city-style vibe in country Corowa .

Read moreMy husband & I ordered coffee & tomato soup for lunch on Sunday 22nd June. The coffee, which was good arrived 20 minutes later. We were still waiting for our homemade tomato soup 10 minutes later so when I enquired the girl told me it was on its way. At that point I was close to saying just forget about it! But 5 minutes later the “soup” arrived. Basically it was a sourdough bread roll filled with about 1/2 cup of soup- most of which was absorbed by the bread! Six spoonfuls of soup later we were left with a less than an appetising roll! We were so disappointed expecting a proper bowl of homemade tomato soup with a cheesy sourdough roll. Couldn’t taste the cheese! Topped with a spoonful of yoghurt? & a token sprig of coriander. And this tiny amount of food cost $15 per serve. The roll might cost a dollar? & soup is so cheap to make! Such a disappointing meal & an absolute ripoff! This is the first review I have ever written & I didn’t want others to have the same...
Read moreWe’re not usually ones to give a bad review but we were quite disappointed with our food. I think there may have only been one chef on so maybe he was rushing. Ordered 2 x eggs on gf toast then added avocado, spinach & mushrooms. The poached eggs were hard & cold, mushrooms were nice, avocado was a small amount mashed into the middle of each slice of toast, spinach consisted of 5 leaves. I went in and paid for another 2 serves of spinach (totalling $46) the waitress brought out a handful on a side plate and said it was 2 serves. When we said our eggs were cold we were asked what do we want her to do about it. If customer service was better we’d come back...
